is the tractor built to handle a 12,000 winch? where are you going to attach it to?

you talking to me?
I figure this one'll fir right nice on my Kioti DK4710. Cable's not too big only one inch. Or maybe that's one and a quarter
I'll attach it to the front grill.

all this talk about winches and batteries and alternators and 4 - 5 hundred amp draws has me thinking.

Why not run the winch off the PTO and leave electricity out of the whole picture?
Or hydraulics? What a great excuse to install a third function?
My tractor has the third function and rear remotes.
I think If I go with a winch it will not be electrical.
Never thought about that before I bought it.

Big winches pull tremendous amperage (current) under load, best cable would probably be #4 or #2 welding cable.... Do not be surprised under hard pull winch will severally drain battery and even maybe kill battery and alternator...

As for connecting winch to tractor system if winch will only be on tractor occasionally I would suggest Anderson Power Poll connectors, something in the 350 amp (or larger ) range...

Exactly what I did with the 6K winch I installed on my wife's side by side. I ran welding cable directly to the battery and to the winch with a high amperage thermal breaker in line and her winch has a wireless remote included. It's a HF RTV winch btw. Bought the welding cable at Tractor Supply as well as new battery ends and standoff's to route the cables under the existing skid plates and it was quite a job to install as well. TSC sells bulk welding cable by the foot, btw. No way any existing wiring on her side by side is capable of carrying the amperage load.

Anybody else ever witnessed a vehicle being torn apart when winching. It's not a pretty sight.

The TJ Jeep was securely chained to a large tree. The winch line was humming. Then a LOUD crack - the Jeep grew six inches longer. It split in half right behind the front doors.

We all got to witness a grown man cry.

The object here - just be damn certain that the frame of your tractor will take the strain.
