Got ya, yes it flowed through to the other side. But to be sure I went to that side as well and repeted the process. I ended up with a big gob below the guard that I had to file away. I think the first application was enough for both sides though. As far as the flux turning clear and that being the signal it is ready to go, the second I put the flame to it ,it turned clear?

Silver solder is like "Brill Cream: a little dab will do ya. :D

Once the solder has pulled through - Your done. - Quit :laughing:

Have fun, I think you have a life time supply of solder. But a good chance you will find other uses for it.

There are also solders for brass that are termed silver solders but have no silver in them. They melt and flow similar to the silver solder and look like bronze when applied. They are not quiet as fluid as the 15-50% silver solders so you can fill a bit of a gap with them and they work good for brass,steel, copper or combination of the three and they are much cheaper than the silver bearing solders. They would be good for your knife projects also.
