Advice needed on Spool End Float leak.

My thoughts are they were not supposed to be included.

Typically a float repair, comes with just what you got. Its for when things wear out enough that the float no longer "detents" in float position. At that point, a new sleeve, balls, and springs are what is required. And just what you got. I'd either put it on the shelf for future repair, or send it back once you get the o-rings replaced.

All back together with no leaks. It was a good education for me.

No instructions and NO seals. Now that I know how to take it apart I'll take it off and try to find a replacement. Ugh.

Looks like the kit includes parts for the operating side of the spool, as well as the detent side.

Since the top O-ring was leaking, I suspect the oil ran down along the valve carcass and down the
"can", making it look like the latter was leaking.

Glad you got it fixed. Is the float function on the main boom? My hoes don't have that.

I don't know enough. Everything in it was for below the block. Including the "collet" where both the o-rings sit (which why I thought they would've been included).

You are exactly right about the leak. Yes it is a boom float position.

The kit was missing one of the two spring caps.
I had previously been warned by my dealer that Woods is notorious for incomplete shipments.

Also, just in case someone finds this in the future: both o-rings were 3/32" thick. The top one's inside diameter is 3/4". The internal o-ring's inside diameter is 9/16".

Thanks everyone for the help.

Getting the detent set was a bit of a task. Took my wife helping and we didn't even yell at each other or lose any of the small spring-loaded parts. :drink:

Spring then large ball go in the tube. This then has to be compressed enough to get all four side balls in enough. Then the "collet" has to be slid over the outside without loosing compression on the spring/large ball or letting any of the side balls fall out.
