Advice on building a tractor shed?

My tin shed was just a few months old the first time I said to myself, "dang-it, I should have made it bigger".

In December I had a 20X24 shed installed to house my tractor and some attachments. With the price of lumber, and the challenge of digging posts where I live it was more cost effective to have an all metal structure built. All in less than 5K installed in three hours once it arrived.

I like the design. Especially the openness of the rafters. Our winds and snow loads would reqire that the roof have more support.

Actually I have one like this and with the earth anchors it has withstood 80 mph winds. And you can order it designed for 100# snow loads like I did.

Our problem is the constant winds. We can have 40 mph winds for days. If the tin is not fastened down enough the vibration will tear the screws through the tin. The pictured building might very well be ok. It's one thing that I would be concerned about.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I started bigger and then started shrinking it due to cost.. I know you're all right about bigger is better. I just went into debt for the tractor and am feeling pinched.....but you're right....

I will do a cost comparison between metal and wood.....

we also have constant winds in the spring. I have three of these buildings. The open carport with just a roof: no problem. The carport with sides facing the prevailing wind direction: no problem. The carport with sides and the open front facing prevailing winds: started to creak and tear screws through the tin. I fixed that by installing heavy cables in an X pattern on the inside wall. Now it stands up to winds without a creak. All of my structures have earth anchors at each corner augered into the ground.
