Advice on buying an upgrade tractor

/ Advice on buying an upgrade tractor #11
I have no first hand experience with the New Holland TT75A and couldn't find who makes the engine, I believe NH has rebadged other brands in the past and till do in the CUT. I prefer Kubota over NH, but I have had several.

Are both 8/8 hydraulic shuttle?

My Kubota dealer also handles NH and were originally Ford then NH and picked up Kubota. When buying initially the salesman couldn't recommend one over the other.

I wouldn't limit yourself to just those two tractors. Not sure what the total dollar amount is, but you can get into a new LS 70-90 HP CAB with 5yr warranty for under $40k. Other brands have offerings worth checking out too.

Looking at those two models on tractor data shows they are very close. Weight is almost the same, engine size 220 cu in vs 203 in favor of the new holland, pto hp goes to the Kubota at 64 vs 59, tire size looks to be about the same, it looks like the 7040 is a class 2 rear 3 pt vs a class 1/2 on the new holland. Overall they are very close, I would say operate them both and see which one you are more comfortable in, the money difference won't mean much if every time you operate it you wish it was the other model.

Good pointers all around. I would size the tractor to match the biggest peice of equipment you may intend on using in the future... With so much acreage, fuel economy could be something to consider as well. Go to other dealers, and try out what could be the closest match.
Like TSO says, I would not turn down an LS brand new tractor with great warranty, pricing and features. Worth the detour:)
Happy Tractoring!

If one is a premium tractor I'd take a closer look at it. More gears in the trans, dual pto's , wheel weights already on....

. . . I have been told by a friend to determine what I need then buy more. . . .

Sounds like you have a very wise friend. Listen to him.

Welcome to T.B.N. from Québec Canada!
As this tread belongs to texas boy (he started it for his own personal requirements), may I perhaps suggest you to start your own as well? A new tread is related to its original poster. Therefore personalised. You will get more attention, and all the answers and advice you are seeking!:)!

Welcome to TBN!
I was in the same situation and just took delivery of a NH T4.95 w/ cab and FEL earlier this week. I looked hard at the 5100E and 9960 but did not look at the 4610 since MF dealers are scarce in my area; JD and Kubota dealers are plentiful around here. LS dealers are also scarce but I was quoted a price on a 7040CPS that was pretty close to the NH. The Kioti DK90 was considered but it is not offered with a hydraulic shuttle - deal breaker.
From my shopping experience, I learned there is no perfect tractor. There are things I like and dislike about all of them. My suggestion: look and test drive all the models you are considering numerous times. Make a list of must have features and equipment, likes and dislikes. Ask the dealer if he offers free pick-up and return during the warranty period. In my case the NH dealer did, but the local JD and Kubota dealers did not; pretty important when you don't have the equipment to haul this size machine.
If you decide on the Kubota, I would give Barlows in Somerset, KY a try. They quoted me a price considerably less than the local dealers on a 9960 and had I chose the 9960, I was going to buy from them. Tractor shopping is fun and exciting but also stressful when making a decision to fork over a large sum of money. Take your time, be deliberate, ask questions and enjoy the experience.

Thanks a lot, just talked to Steve (barrows) a few minutes ago, re figuring the cash price, I am mixed up, our NH jumps about 8 thousand and I just don't see that although it is a heavier tractor
