Advice on Truck Purchase

/ Advice on Truck Purchase #11
Well once again thanks for the advice from the people on this forum. I left this morning and stopped at the dealership I mentioned above and I drove the truck. I was told it came from Michigan and an executive from Dodge had it. I noticed a lot of surface rust on the bolts under the truck and the engine parts had rust. The dealer said he would let me buy it for 27k.

I left and drove to the largest dealership on my side of the state. This dealer carries all of the major brands on a 60 acre lot. I pulled into the Dodge lot and I saw an 08 with a 6spd manuel for $32,600. The salesman came out and asked what I was looking for. He drove me around the entire dealership and i looked at 50 used diesel trucks. I saw an 07 Chevy 4dr with the Allison and duramax with 9,500 miles. The asking price was 35k which was more than I could put into a truck. My salesman told me I could get it for 29k-30k.

We then went back to his office and he searched the entire lot and he found that a 07 Dodge had been traded the night before. He said the truck was in detail or in the garage. We spent 20 minutes looking for the truck. We found it on the lift with all wheels off. He got permission for me to go into the garage area and look at the truck. I even got to talk to all the diesel mechanics from all the brands. I was impressed. The truck was in great shape. The mechanic said the truck had a 5.9 cummins and the truck was an early 07 before the change to the 6.7. The truck still had dirt on it from the trade. I spent the next few hours driving trucks until the mechanic was done with his inspection and lunch. I felt this was a great selling point allowing me to talk to the people who work on all of the brands.

After spending the day driving trucks, the salesman let me work up offers on three trucks. I looked at the Chevy, a new Dodge, and the one I saw in the garage. I bought the 07 Dodge crew cab with the 5.9 cummins with 17k miles OTD for 26K. The funny thing is that a coworker, Troy came down to the lot and he traded his Nissan Frontier in on a new 1500 Dodge Crew cab with the same salesman. I'm tickled to death. I got 19mpg on the way home to my house, which means a lot to me since I live out in the country. If anyone ever need to buy a truck, please, look at Shelor Motor Mile in Christiansburg, VA.

I would have to say that's a good choice because it was cheaper than the GM. Does it have the exhaust brake?
