I would give you some advice, but the last time I offered advice to a TBN'r, he sent me a scathing PM telling me what to do with my advice and where to put it. Some people just don't have any manners.....

Getting back to the question at hand, I don't know any contractors but the ones around here. I would suggest that you contact the local building officials and ask them who they know of that builds a good unit. These people know the quality of work of every contractor. They might not want to give you one name, so ask them for a few. You can be sure that they will leave out the ones that are questionable. You also might consider having it framed with a garage door opening and having that opening filled in so it will look more like a small apartment rather than a garage if you are planning on living in it until the home is finished.

Dean - I put up a 30'x40' Mueller Steel Building 4 yrs ago. See attachment. Very pleased with it. They have all sizes available. You can check the sizes and prices on their web site. They don't put them up themselves, but they could probably recommend some local contractors. I put mine up myself and they were very helpful with my questions.

( ( Looks like no one knows the contractors in Corsicana. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

Poor attempt at humor; a reference to Corsicana as the Christmas fruitcake capitol of the world, and Marie Antoinette's famous declaration during the French Revolution.

Nevermind, and good luck with your dirt contractor. The only dirt contractors I know are oilfield ones that would be overkill and above your budget.

Oops, building contractors not dirt contractors - sorry, still can't help there. My shop was built by the guy I bought my place from, and although it is very well built I wouldn't recommend him to do business with.

Gary, I used to sell a few pecans to Bancrofts and I also had them crack and shell pecans for me.

And the Collin Street Bakery is best known for shipping fruit cakes all over the world, but they have lots of other stuff, too, in the store. I especially liked their apple fritters.

Why not drive around and look for buildingsin your area that you like and would want to build, then approach the owners and ask who built their great looking building?

Or let your fingers do the walking! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good advice, Robert. Most of the folks in that area will be glad to visit and tell you about their building.
