That is true. High quality synthetic (non clay based) grease does have that property (tacky) which makes cleanup sometimes a chore, whereas clay based cheap grease comes off easily. I don't want it to come off. especially on implements and the undercarrige of my tractors. I don't think Valvoline multipurpose is clay based but you need to read the packaging.BTW, I never cared for synthetic grease because it is so hard to clean up afterwards. Been using Valvoline multipurpose for years....on everything.
I'll take the staying power over a coagulated fitting or grease channel any day over cheap grease.
