That is true. High quality synthetic (non clay based) grease does have that property (tacky) which makes cleanup sometimes a chore, whereas clay based cheap grease comes off easily. I don't want it to come off. especially on implements and the undercarrige of my tractors. I don't think Valvoline multipurpose is clay based but you need to read the packaging.

I'll take the staying power over a coagulated fitting or grease channel any day over cheap grease.

I never knew the coagulation was a side affect of using clay based grease. Coagulation is a big problem - think PTO shafts (for which I've been using DryLube, not knowing why the grease hardened up). Thanks for input.

I used that word 'coagulation' for lack of a better one. What it does though. You get 'hardened grease arteries' from cheap grease.

30+ years of greasing construction equipment and 20 years of greasing aircraft and never once had a fitting need anything more than whipping down before greasing. Don't skimp on quality or frequency and shouldn't have a problem.

I’ve never had a machine I was greasing not take grease but 2 of my last used machines have had seized fitness. But a seized fitting definitely shouldn’t be part of your regular routine.

Bought a used M135x 3 years ago. This one is equipped with the Kubota hydraulically adjustable front suspension. Because of this, it has extra grease fittings. Some were tight, but not fully clogged. I don’t think the previous owner greased them enough as they are always moving with every bump of the tractor. When I first greased them, I could tell by the amount of pressure required, the crackling sound and the quality (or lack thereof) emerged from the channels. It worried me a bit, but all has been well since then.

After many, many years of greasing hundreds of fittings per year, it gets tiresome. The auto lubers are nice, but I only have one on my square baler, and I don’t know if I trust it.
