Ag tire question

I'm about to buy 2 sets of tractor tires. One pair for my Massey 150 and the other pair for my Ford 3000. The Massey came originally with 45* GoodYears. The Ford had 23* Armstrongs. I like the looks of "long bar/short bar" tires. Leaning towards Titans. (Formerly GoodYears) For the record, my Deere has a set of GoodYear Dyna-Torque II bias ply long bar / short bar tires that are horrendous in mud. Both tractors will be used primarily to bush hog with, but some "dirt work" (i.e. plowing)

Anyone with input?

(As I mentioned, these are AG tires and NOT R-4's)

Where you going to get the Titans. Tried to get a matching tire from MT. Sterling and thye could not get a matching Titan for me.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but will be glad to help if I can. Although last year, Titan did buy Goodyear ag, there are still tires branded Titan and tires branded Goodyear. We carry both lines, as well as Firestone and Alliance. If you have any interest, we have a location in Lexington. I can hook you up if you want. It is a warehouse so you would have to get the tires mounted yourself.

ETA: If you do a significant amount of heavy drawbar work, you should consider radials.

I'm looking specifically for a good wearing tire that's got a tough carcass. (resist punctures) I've owned Titans and was pleased. The GoodYears wore quick and weren't the greatest traction tires I've seen. Drawbar work will be somewhat limited at this stage. Just an occasional plowing of the garden and such. I like the looks of the long bar/short bar style. Looking at 13.6X28's and 14.9X28's.

Pretty much everyone is getting away from the long bar/short bar design, at least in bias. Next year, Michelin has announced that they will discontinue altogether the BFG line of bias ply ag tires. I expect other manufacturers will follow Michelin's lead as all tire makers seem to want to reduce ag tire skus.

Afternoon Bill,
The Goodyears on my Massey have 1460 hrs on them and still in very good shape. With the small amount of hours I put on them they will never wear out on me

I replaced the Titans on the front at 1340 hours, with another set of Titans.
