Does it shift hard after it has sat quite a while? OR all the time?

I think one of my AGCO's has the same tranny, and when it sits quite a while, it shifts harder until it get's used a little.

I believe a little rust forms and after the shifter is used a bit, it wears away...

I just recently went to see the tractor and yes it has been unused for quite some time. I was wondering if the clutch could be an issue, even with the low hours a clutch on the wrong foot can be a disaster.

I'm betting it's the rust issue...

I'm thinking you can rule the clutch out, by trying to shift it with the motor off... IF it shifts hard then, you know it isn't the clutch.

After sitting a while, the lever just get's hard to move smoothly....

I think my "range" lever shifts harder IF it sets a time, too.

I just bought the tractor for $19,000. I have my fingers crossed.

Good for you! They are a pretty nice tractor that make good power for their size...
