Smith could you post some pics? I really want to put them on all the wheels since the diesel engine is so heavy.

I've noticed something about the bags that I wonder about when servicing. They are max pressure 100lbs. If you service them first then put the load on you could easly go over the max pressure. Now in realty I should never be able to get close because 35lbs with trailer on empty is fine and even loaded I think that will be good. But I'll need to keep an eye after loading just how high the pressure does go. I lost 5 lbs just taking the empty trailer off.
Those of you with the on board compressors this isn't a concern as you can see and adjust in the cab. I will need to check often till I get a feel for where they will be loaded. Again I might find I will never get close to max pressure.

greatwhite i hope these come up. the first is the front they hook around the u bolt on my 01,second is the rear and they just use longer u bolts and then the gauge.it was kind of a pain to do. you have to split them side to side front and rear.one line from the tank to the guage then out to the front then teed them off left and right on one side, then do the same on the other on the rear at the bags. i thought it was a good place for the cb i don't want a trash bag hanging there.

Well Smith it looks like your in the rust belt as well. How long have the bags been on your truck? The rust thing had me concerned on where to mount the compressor. But it looks like it will fit under the hood away from the worst of the salt. I'm going to install them on the rear first and the the add the wireless air then the fronts. I hope I'm as impressed as all the threads I've read seem to indicate.

Matt;)

i put them on last september.yea i am right in the rust belt too,i plan on scraping them and the frame and shooting it this summer.i have my compressor mounted on the drivers side where the second battery would go if it were a diesel, but thinking about moving it so i can install a second battery.still have to run my aux ports so i can air up tires ans such, i am putting one in the front and one in the rear.

I put the firestone air-bags on the rear of my truck and they really help.

The reason i put them on is because i haul a slide-in-camper & pull a boat.....Before i installed them the truck would squat when i loaded the camper in the bed of the truck...and then it would squat more when i put our things in the camper & hooked up the boat.

My air-bags will hold 100psi but i only have to put in about 70psi to bring the rear of the truck back up to level.....If i haul more in the camper then i would have to put more air in.

One way to keep a compressor from road salt and other things that could damage it....Is to take a plastic bit box and put the compressor in it....This type of box is what miner-bits or roof bolting bits come in....I saved a lot from the coalmines, but a person could use any type of small plastic box with a lid on top.

You can bolt the box to the frame of the truck....and you can drill some holes at an end of the box for the wires & air-line to go through......Then put silicone around the holes to keep out water.:D
