Airbus Cancelling A380 Production

Boeing was smart to expect point to point travel to be more popular. Not many people when booking a flight look for a stop over if they can fly direct.

Watching a documentary last night on the 747. I regret, I have never been on one. That's OK, I don't like being in the company of lots of people, And would never fly FIRST CLASS..

Many people do not realize that the original purpose of the hump in the front of the 747 was for air conditioning, not seats.

With the cancellation of the A380 now airlines have to maintain a low volume high dollar plane. Probably going to get $$$$ until they retire them. 234 is not many.

I had read that it was the heat from air conditioning packs that caused all that fuel vapour, that exploded in the center tank on that TWA (?) flight that blew up over the ocean having left new york.

Yes, airliners can heat and cool the cabins themselves with their engines. At the gate, they hook up the APU to provide electricity and air conditioning to save fuel and time on the aircraft engines, plus the ground crews don't have to worry about being sucked in to the engines while they are running.

I thought the reason for the hump was that they could use the plane in freight operations by putting the large opening nose on them. If there had been a cockpit there, it would significantly reduce the size of cargo that could go into the plane. So they moved the cockpit up above the height of the main fuselage interior to the 2nd level.
