Airbus Cancelling A380 Production

Many people do not realize that the original purpose of the hump in the front of the 747 was for air conditioning, not seats.

With the cancellation of the A380 now airlines have to maintain a low volume high dollar plane. Probably going to get $$$$ until they retire them. 234 is not many.

We aren’t talking about tractors here. Less than twice as many A300s were built over a 36 year span and 255 A310s were built in 15 years.

That would make more sense. But if I did that, all the hoses, wires and cables would get kinked or pinched when the thing closed.

Well, I guess that answers that!

The video shows the cockpit was moved up to clear freight, AND the hump was lengthened for air conditioning the freighter. When they lost the contract for a government freighter to the C5, Pan Am showed interest in the 747 as an airliner, but demanded the air conditioning be moved to below decks and the hump made into a lounge.

What if the nose opens while driving? I had that happen on my Dakota.

Always was one of my favorite shots was the 747 taking off with a shuttle on its back. Amazing.
