Yeah, Dan, I've never had a revolver malfunction at all, but I do know of lots of instances in which they have. However, it seemed to be routine for semi-autos to malfunction. I only recall one instance in which we lost an officer because his malfunctioned and the bad guy walked up and shot him in the head while he was trying to get the darned thing to work. We also had far too many instances of accidental discharge with the semi-autos in the locker room, squad cars, etc.

When I took the FBI pistol course at Quantico, we were shooting revolvers except for two days. I told the instructor there was no need for me to shoot the auto course since I would never carry one with my life depending on it. He said, "You never know, you may someday" and I told him, "Nope, I'd resign first." So he told me how these "new" autos were so much more reliable, didn't jam, etc. So I shot the course with his great new auto; it jammed on the second shot with him standing there./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Kinda took the wind out of his sails.

Those two times are the only failures I have seen in wheel guns. Course I don't see people shooting them as much anymore. Pistol failures are all to common. I know out of a group of 10-20 people, all with the same pistol, S&W 4506-1s, there will be at least a couple of failures with practice ammo. I can remember one or two failures but the old tap, rack and go drill clears 'em real fast. I don't remember seeing many failures with duty, aka EXPENSIVE /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, ammo. Course I'm convinced alot of failures, which turn into alibi reshoots, are not quite truthful. The last qualification I had, the range officer was getting a bit POed with all of the alibis.... Could it have been the new course of fire mandated by the state? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Naaahhh! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My first firearms class was run by a man who taught the firearms course at the FBI for almost 20 years. Supposed to have won many a match. He sure impressed me but for the life of me I can't remember his name. Course it was 10+ years ago....

I read that the airlines are screaming for the Fed's to take over security at airports and the also want the Sky Marshals back. Can you say L I A B I L I T Y? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
