Thank you.

I do feel kinda stupid for ranting about a post from 8 months ago.....

-Jer.

I didn't even realize it was an old post. I'm sure I'm not the only one to get "sucked" in.

I read my "unread" posts... not realizing that it might be an old post someone else has responded to... then the cycle starts all over again!

Hold on folks ... Allen is a down to earth type of guy. Would fit in with the majority of us.

No different than you or me ... if we make a buck we may spend seventy five cents ... or if we make a million we may spend seven hundred and fifty thousand of those on something we like or want ...

Point is we all get things we need or don't need.

Apologies to anyone who was offended by my 'rant' in that last string of posts, the individual I was replying to aside.

-Jer.

Guess I'm the "individual". Please forgive me. I didn't recognize him as such a colossal star. Don't do my usual shopping at Cracker Barrel. Promise to pick up a set of signature salt and pepper shakers the next time I'm on the road.

I'm confused, I must have missed the point of your rant.

I'm reading here that you're 'above Cracker Barrel', but below the 'Wall Street Punks'. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I suppose everyone has a strata, and everyone is welcome to criticize the strata above, and mock the strata below.

Alternatively, we could all just support and help each other regardless of 'strata', and get back to talkin' about tractors. That's the route i'll take.

Good luck on your road trip, perhaps the IHOP will be more your style.

I couldn't agree more. I love it how people say "who needs something that big" or "they make too much money" and on and on...

It is their money. It is what they want/wanted. It is their life.

Are folks really that jealous?

It's not a question of jealousy, it's a question of values. Too many rich people have none. If you don't see anything obscene about that house, you really need an attitude adjustment. Drop back a century, when Sam Hill built Maryhill, and "What the Sam Hill is that?" entered the language as an example of the lunacy of people with more money than sense.

A house like that is just a monument to an ego running out of control. There is nothing admirable about it. If you want an admirable rich guy, take a look at Warren Buffett, who gave each of his kids a top flight education and $100,000 to get started, and is in the process of giving away his billions

The idea that having a lot of money makes someone immune from criticism is just nonsense.

The house is nice but what I really want is the blue Bronco.

Really? And there are no 'poor' or 'middle class' with no values?

I personally don't like it either, but it's not my business to comment. If you don't like it, don't put an offer in on it. Try Chesney's house instead!! ;)

I hear ya, for sure. What is the bare minimum, vs. comfortable, vs. nice, vs. very nice, vs. extravagant, vs. ridiculous is everyone's own opinion. A lot of people could be fed and sheltered with that cash, but it's not anyone's place to bash those that have the ability to purchase and/or build places like the one in question.

Many consider the Taj Mahal beautiful. The Sistine Chapel and Angkor Wat too. Are those 'obscene'?? They may not be your style, but some folk might have something to say if you call them that. Whose ego was running out of control when those where erected?

If you want an admirable rich guy, take a look at Warren Buffett, who gave each of his kids a top flight education and $100,000 to get started, and is in the process of giving away his billions

Jack Johnson does it too....

I can't imagine that Alan Jackson isn't a pretty charitable guy. I'm too lazy right now to research it, but I'll bet he is.

The idea that having a lot of money makes someone immune from criticism is just nonsense.

Oh no, they're not immune, no one is. But lets flip the roles here. What would it look like if a 'rich' person started commenting on the style choices and spending habits of a 'poor' person?? Arrogant, rude, demeaning, class-less, and crass are some of the words that come to my head.

Just remember that one day you may be faced with the terrible predicament of becoming outlandishly wealthy. Maybe a lottery win, or a stock tip, or a business offer, or maybe being discovered singing karaoke at a county fair. If and when that ever happens, don't whine when your automatically labeled as 'obscene', or as a 'punk', or as 'gauche'. I suppose one could always just buy some thicker skin with all your nouveau cash, that is unless you're broke after losing your, and everyone else's, money on Wall Street.

Kindof odd that in all those rooms he puts all the silver and gold records and awards in the gym.
