The added flow situation is that in low flow siphons, air sucked out of the water slowly collects at the hi point and will finally stop the siphon.
Oh yes, BTDT on some long runs. (~75', high point 3' or so above source, net fall <3', 1 1/2" corrugated hose.) :mur:.
How many times I wish I'd had a bucket/barrel like the OP's at the outlet when slow flow wouldn't flush out the bubbles. Pretty sure OP drew down a lot more water in a lot less time than the last swimming pool we drained.
