Here's a tire sealant product that is designed to work with loaded tires. I've been running it in my Power Trac for about 2.5 years, where all four tires (23x10.50x12) are loaded with winter-mix windshield washer fluid. I'd had 3 flats in two weeks with thorn punctures before using it -- and none since.

What is the formula for figuring out the gallons of liquid necessary to fill a tire, say 13.6 X 28?

Kent, What is the cost of the Hydroseal per gal or pail, and is a pail capacity 5 gal?
I was told the ratio is 1 gal Hydroseal to 10 gal of liquid, so the Hydroseal must be in a concentrated solution. That means that when mixed, there is enough to seal that tire for a lifetime, unless you get a severe cut. When you are done with filling the tire with whatever liquid, is the cost for preventive worth it? They say it contains fibers in sizes from microscopic on up, to fill up a hole as large as 1/4 in. The fibers also stay in suspension, and not settle out.

I bought A 5 gallon pail. I don't recall exactly what it cost -- it was over $200, as I recall, plus shipping. Using their ratios, I still have over a gallon left in case I ever lose the fluid out of a tire. I got a quote for having them foam filled, and it was several times that much. Just putting HD tubes in all four would've cost over $100, considering the cost of the tubes and then having them installed at a tire shop.

Preventing one flat out in the middle of the woods, disrupting a whole day's work, can make that investment worthwhile, IMO. Peace of mind -- priceless! ;)

Using a tire size of 29.5 X 25, they say it will take about 207 gal for a fill, and that is to the valve stem. So if one has to figure the cost for the Hydroseal for this tire at a 1 to 10 ratio, it would take 4, 5 gal pails to make up the correct solution. The cost alone to make the solution would be about $800.00, plus the cost of the other liquid, be it antifreeze, windshield wiper solution, or /and beet juice, calcium chloride. Maybe on a small tire. What say the rest of you that have large tires on your tractor.

I have 2 small pin hole in my tire right now, and it will leak down in a couple of days depending where the leak is when I park it.

That's for each person to decide... just like my first post in this thread said "Your mileage many vary..."

I wanted to add weight (the reason for loading the tires) in addition to solving the problem with flats. I paid 99 cents a gallon for the winter-mix WW fluid, off-season, buying several cases at one time -- it think it came 6 gallons per case...

Each of my 23x10.50x12s held about 7.5 gallons of fluid. I mixed the HydroSeal into the WW fluid in a five gallon bucket before filling, then pumped it into the valve stems. For under $300 I added close to 250 lbs of weight and solved my problem with flats...

That's a little over $1 a pound for the added weight and flat prevention. Compare that with foam filling, which doesn't add as much weight, or with the cost of cast-iron weights -- which doesn't solve the flat issue. (As I recall, the quote for foam-filling was close to $800 for all four tires.)

It was worth it to me. Your mileage may vary... :D

Surely not worth it for me to load my tires at near 1000$ a pop!

Farm service call for one of the large tractors will only be 75$ call fee.. plus hourly and materials. A flat can be fixed ont he tractor by a good operator in an hour or less.. figure less than 200$ for a flat with a new tube, as long as the tire casing is still good.

Ever see the cost of beet juice.... bring your loan application!

why I seal my tires with water!! Keep away from the nasties and a spare tube is under $20.
