Alternative CDI for tractor using Robin DY27 diesel engine

I don't know what you mean exactly. Do you mind giving me an example of a modern type I can replace it with please? I would like to consider that seriously. Thanks!

One wire Alternator.... Does not require external voltage regulator.....

As an example.....But may choices.... Biggest issue may be finding one with correct "pulley" (V Belt?)

One-Wire Alternators: Are They Better Or Just Easier To Hook up?

One Wire Alternator Conversion

May have to mod or fab mounting bracket, but not big issue....

I also found another one that looks almost identical but it says Ford & the wires are different colours. I'm wondering if they are interchangeable? Will the wires do different things on different machines??
:
The function is probably the same but without a schematic of your ex and one of the Ford you're going to have a hard time matching the connections. The specs would be good too so you're not putting too much juice thru the RR.....M

Oh, I see, just like a regular car. I think there's not enough space for me to mount additional pulley/mounting bracket because it is really tight space :-(

But thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated!

So, will voltage regulator from other non-subaru robin work? What if I swap & match up the wire colors even though they are configured differently like this one for motorcycle below ?

Right, I see what you mean ... that's a headache ... I just posted a question whether I could safely match up the connections with a similar looking one for motorcycle :)

Thanks Dale ... I'm going to investigate the idea of mounting a smallest possible single wire alternator.

And I'll continue to see if I can hunt down an identical 6-wire Rectifier Regulator for this ancient 1970s Subaru/Robin DY27-2 engine :)

Dear all, just to close the loop on this issue we had : We managed to find a 6-wire rectifier/voltage regulator but with different wire pin configurations.

Our solution was to identify the 2 stator and the ignition switch/light wires. The +ve and ground was easy to identify, it the rest that's a bit tricky.

We tried finding a way to mount an alternator but it was impossible due to the way the mini excavator's solid steel chassis was weld-wrapped around the little engine :)

Again, thanks for all the inputs & ideas!
