Alternative for hydraulic hose?

The guys at Shaver told me that they had to go to the 1000 psi hose because of numerous complaints about the other style return hose.

There is only the right way and what you think is your way.

People people, just do what you want.

I have no doubt that Shaver had to upgrade the return hose due to customer's chronic inability to follow instructions and plumb the return as directed. I have seen, sold and set up several Shaver drivers that came from the factory with 200 PSI return hose, and am certain there are hundreds of them out there working sucessfully so equipped.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks so much for all of the help and advice! I learned a lot.

I didn't think I would have any trouble finding a return line locally but boy was I wrong. Nobody had a 1" return line in stock.

I need to pound posts tomorrow and Monday. I've got a few hundred to do.

Since I didn't have a lot of choice, I ended up going with this ribbed PVC suction line from Northern Tool. It may not last forever, don't even know if its rated for oil nor do I know how much PSI its rated for. But I figured a suction line would have to be fairly stout to keep from collapsing. I bought it, cut the ends off and inserted a 1" barbed by 3/4" pipe fitting into one end -- which screwed it the valve. The other end I stuck into the hydraulic fluid tank. I'm happy to report its working perfectly! I pounded a test post tonight before it got dark. Tomorrow I'll be hitting it hard (pun intended).

I'll let you know if the hose holds up. Maybe it will help someone else.
