From an old but good thread:
You know we had hail back in May, so lots of new roofs all over our area. It seems most of the insurance adjusters now carry the aluminum telescoping ladders because they fit so easily in a car trunk and are so light to carry around. Both our insurance adjusters and my roofing salesmen were using them. But then the crew that actually did the roofing was using Little Giant. I had never seen or heard of those telescoping ladders before, but now everyone, including my local Sherwin-Williams store, seems to have them, either in the stores or online. And if I were going to buy another ladder, I think the telescoping aluminum is what I'd want.

I've got a definite use for a telescoping ladder. I'd like to get one 15' or greater and keep the weight under 40lbs. Any TBN recommendations?

As usual I'm looking for recommendations from TBN'ers, I have only a little trust for reviews on Amazon.

/edit - and is there some magic government rule about 15.5 feet plus? It seems that a lot of the ladders cut off at 15.5 feet.

I have never seen one of those before today. so I am about worthless. At least worthless commenting about this subject. :)

I don't know what brand they are using, but our adjusters at work have been using the telescopic ladders for years. Allowed the adjusters to switch from having to drive trucks to driving cars. Saved the company a ton of money on depreciation and fuel. Of course, those ladders are now starting to fall out of favor in place of drones....saves on the Worker's Comp rating if you don't have adjusters climbing around on roofs.

Any Little Giant is great. Just get the right size and dont short yourself.

Sales and service guy from the HVAC contractor that installed our new furnace and heat pump had one. He was griping that one of the service crew had borrowed it and broken one of the latch release levers. Looked like a weak point in the design to me that you would have to be careful with. He loved it, folded up into a very compact package. I will probably get one eventually, my old 1950's era wooden extension ladder seems to get heavier every year....

I have had a Little Giant for over 25 years. Great ladder - tougher than nails. It's my "go to" ladder for difficult situations.

I have one but don't know the brand, watch your fingers when closing, if you don't it hurts.

I bought THIS ONE last fall for access into the large ceiling hatchway for my attic, since there's no pull-down stairs installed. It's had a fair amount of use and it's still holding up very well. I also set it up a lot for HVAC contractors coming in for estimates on a new system and they all liked it as well.

Thanks, but this thread is about telescoping ladders, Little Giant doesn't sell any. Little Giant Ladders - Factory Direct Pricing!

Further research shows that some break easily, this Top 10: Best Telescoping Ladders in 2019 / 12.5 Ft Telescopic Ladder - YouTube shows a bunch of failures at about the 1 minute mark.

Also at least one brand, LionLadder, seems very narrow. I've 2 size 13EEE to fit on the rung.

Well my son was going in to Harbor Freight in Tupelo anyways, they have their 10ft on sale for $99, had him pick me up one to avoid the 82 mile rt drive,

Pros so far - real sturdy, collapses smoothly
Con - the buttons to collapse are underneath the rungs
