Am I mad wanting this tractor??

Keep in mind that an 80 HP tractor will destroy equipment meant for 30-40-50 HP tractors. Gearboxes, welds, and just the structural members will bend or break without so much as a thought. I sell new and used impliments. I can't tell you how many I've sold over the years to people that thought their 6' light duty snow blade would be OK on the back of that 75 hp tractor they just bought. John

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm sure your're probably right about the size of the tractor, but it is acually not that much biger than the 484, and with the turf tyres on actally has a lighter footprint than the 484 as well!
I do need to check the turning circle, but I think it should be OK. I'm going to get one over here to use for a couple of days - that should answer a few questions for me.
On the plus side, a bigger tractor woould allow me to run a bigger mower (as mentioned by Soundguy) allowing me to mow the lawns quicker and 'therefore' more often!
In the future I'm hoping to get a tractor mounted hedge cutter for which it would also be handy.

If you can afford it, BUY it.
I have about 10 acres, in 20 pieces, and have 45hp and 70 hp tractor. Both are 4 wd. Only differece is that my tractors are little smaller by appearance.
Anyway, we in Europe don't haul tractors. That's why they have 40 km/h gearboxes /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was wondering if there was an update. Did you get the larger tractor? If you did, how is it working out on your land?

Aw heck if you want it buy it. It would be a little big and proably make the neighbors talk but if their talking about you than they are leaving someone else alone.

I won't say your mad for wanting it, but if I read your situation right, I think you would be much happier with a smaller one.

Attached is a picture of my 3 tractors. They all have their place, but the little kubota is the most used of the three around my place. Granted the large one is best with a 20' bush hog mower, but I don't do that much any more.

The little one is about 7' tall, will go under trees better, go in lower sheds, easier to get in and out of, ETC.

I would recommend maybe a Kubota L5030 HSTC.

Hi guys.
Well the update is that so far I have resisted, mainly thanks to a larger than expected tax bill just after xmas that soaked up all my reserves.
Now that I'm just starting mowing the padocks again I'm still torn between a) keeping my IH which does do pretty much all I want right now and b) getting a 3060 which would allow me to run a bigger mower (which I've found) and have the comfort of a cab with heater!
I'm not put off by the size of the tractor as it isn't particularly big in today's terms and by the time it's got turf tyres it will be 'lighter' than my current IH! It's more a question of finding the right tractor at the right price.
I'm glad I didn't jump straight in and get one, and the past couple of months has given me time to think it over a bit more - but I still want one and think it will happen at some point this year.
