Am I nuts?

Nope, definitely not nuts! I bought my BX1800 2 seasons ago, and although I enjoy it very much, both my wife and I wish we had gone larger. We have 3 acres with about 2 for mowing and another for bush hogging, and I'd feel more comfortable with a larger model.

The BX series is great, but I run into the same problems others have and that is worrying whether an implement will fit or not, if there's enough hp, etc. If I had it to do over, I'd go larger definitely!

BTW, anyone have advice on trading up? What sort of trade-in can I expect on my BX1800? Should I try to sell the BX privately and purchase the new one outright? Will my FEL (I think it's a LA211) fit on something like the B7500? If so, do I keep the FEL and put it on the new tractor or buy a new one as a package? Any other questions I don't know I should be asking? All help is appreciated!

Cheers,
Randy

You could probably get more for your BX1800 by selling it yourself, but you will have to spend the time selling it. You still have warranty left and that is a plus. As far as value, the local market determines the value of used tractors. We have only seen one BX "recycle" as used and it sold for $8500.00 (a BX1800, 60" belly mower with 55 hours). Hope this helps.

Buy the model you think is best after considering all the others. If you think the B7800 is your first choice go with it. The property size isn't that important once you decide you need a tractor and @ 4 acres I can't imagine the 7800 is too big.
Once I took delivery (I bought the larger of the two models in contention) I haven't given a thought about the other model. I have been just having too much fun on my B7500 /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

bobobro,
I know the feelings you are having. I am going through them also. I was settled on a BX2200. A friend of mine kept telling me that I needed the ability to add a BH. The BX22 was my next thought. Then my dealer told me that the B7500 with a bradco BH would be a better machine for me. So I have one ordered. Should be here soon, maybe this week. Now I am asking myself /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifshould I go with a B7800? I don't know. This tractor buying stuff is just too darn difficult. Too many choices!

I'd offer a thought in the other direction from this prevailing wind. Like you, I have 4 acres and ultimately I decided on the B7500 over the B7800. The price wasn't the issue for me. It was the fact we have quite a few semi-narrow gates, some smallish fenced in spaces, a number of buildings I need to maneuver around, some areas where tight turns are necessary, and limited vertical clearance to get the tractor into the garage (the B7500 fit with over an inch to spare).

If your space is mostly wide open, bigger is faster and I'd go with the B7800. If you face some of the constraints above, I'll tell you from personal experience the B7500 is a Very Nice Tractor and it turns on a dime. Slowly, of course. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree with Banjo. I believe that the 7500 will suit my needs nicely. At some point I guess one should stop second guessing ones-self. Thanks for the advice. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
