By the way, did anyone ever figure out why I get logged out automatically sometimes when I get down in the last sections of the main index? It just happened again this morning. Of course, it doesn't take but a few seconds to log back on.

Bird,

It happens to me too, but just once in a while, I'll have to pay closer attention to where I am when it happens! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I actually have a neat fix for the login problem that should not only fix that happening but also make it so you can loging by just clicking 'login' - so you would not have to enter your username or password, just click 'login' and you're in. Of course, this would only work on the computer that has a cookie from tractorbynet.com on it.

Since I usually don't logout, whenever I first come to the forum, I'm already logged on, but then sometimes (not all the time; didn't happen this time), I get automatically logged out. Not a big problem, since it's easy to log on again, but does make me curious.

I notice we just hit 700 registered users! Do you have any idea how many posts the "average" user has made? Just curious.

Yesterday evening, about 7 p.m. Eastern time, I was trying to read some of the messages, and even tried to answer some, but this site wouldn't work; back like it was before the 5th, couldn't get it to post a message and then couldn't even change screens. Some of the other sites did work and some didn't. Enough to make a grown man cry./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I tried again later last night and never could even get the main index to come up. Finally decided to wait until today to contact my ISP and try again to fix it. Then, lo and behold, this morning, it works just fine!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif So I know the ISP would blame the phone company and the phone company would deny it. The problem is that by this morning there were so many new messages, it took so long to read them, I didn't have time to respond to any of them; for which I'm sure many of you are grateful./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird,

Well, that is not good news... I didn't get any reports of any down time yesterday, and I was accessing between 8:45 and 10:15 PM EST, eith no problems. So, I would suspect that it was either your ISP or phone service.

Well, even I get 'behind' on new messages when I dont' get a chance to check for a couple minutes. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Obviously one or the other; just wish I knew which one, especially since I don't consider either of them very reliable (part of the penalty for living so far in the boondocks, I guess)./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'm getting a little taste of your frustrations tonight. My wife and I are in Cape May, NJ, taking a few days to celebrate our 19th anniversary, and I'm dialed up from a hotel room with very slow response. And I thought my home connection was bad...

Anyway, my posts for the next few days will be fewer and smaller. I guess when I'm on vacation, you guys get a break, too. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

And the only reason I'm on here this late is because I've been quarreling with my ISP today and just wanted to see if I could even get on. They don't have enough lines, so it had to dial 10 times with busy signals first, then I've been disconnected 3 times./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif And now I'm heading for the bed. Happy Anniversary!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'll keep it short--congrats---congrats---congrats oh yea did I say congrats/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bird there are lots of ISPs out there - I wouldn't waste my time with one that doesn't perform. I switched about 6 months ago and have not had a busy signal since. Yes, my connection speed is slow, but that is because of the antiquated phone lines in my little town.

Contratulations MChalkley on your anniversary. My bride and I had our 25th back in February. Got my first grandbaby on Feb 3rd.

Yeah, Alan, there are lots of ISPs, but nearly all of them would be a long distance phone call for me. In fact, until just recently when they expanded our local calling area again, friends who tried the only other ISP that was a local call told me it was even worse.

And we celebrated our 35th Anniversary 12 days ago.

Sorry this is late Bird double congrats-double congrats-double congrats. The reason for double congrats is that it's almost double as Mark. Alan L you get congrats and a half guess you can figure out the math. You guys must have some good women behind you thats for sure. Just don't let them read that part of the post./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gordon, I think mine's good enough that even reading that wouldn't ruin her. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Alan L. and Bird - Congratulations on your anniversary, too! You don't see too many make it that long anymore. It helps to have a tractor to work out the tension with, maybe. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Yea she's a keeper. She even let me buy my new tractor almost a year ago.

Just after I bragged about my ISP the rascal was down tonight for almost 2 hours. When I'm at home I'm either on the tractor or on the internet. Boy it sure was dark out there tonight. Hope I didn't mow something that I wasn't supposed to.

Oh, and I forgot to send along congrats to you, Bird on your 35th. Besides, if I start splitting up my posts I will get promoted faster.

Yeah, I've heard that it helps if you have a lot in common, but I had to look around and find a gal the exact opposite of me. That's the only way I could get one with the patience to put up with me all these years./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
