Worked in the largest carbon black plant in the world with a large union, son. Worked as a plant engineer and did a stint as shift foreman for a few months.

You held someone over after their shift then automatic 2 hrs overtime at 1-1/2. You call someone out after 5 pm then automatic 5 hrs overtime no matter how long the job.

My engineers pay was a joke to union pay with overtime and I would typically work 10 hrs overtime each week without compensation. Any layoffs had to go according to seniority.

You like to ASSume a lot.

So do you. I was referring to labor and breaks since you refer to Amazon as slave labor with little breaks in a 10 hr day.

I was simply correcting you on your ignorance.

Unless the union your referring to has switched it up to where an employee can goof off all day. When I was in one it was a 1/2 lunch and two 15 minute breaks on a 12 hr shift. I never referenced any of the other benefits.

How do you think UPS, USPS, or FedEx operate in there sorting and shipping centers.

How about a wally world distribution center?

Heck all those places get more breaks then what I get some days.

I dont know of many places of employment where they dont expect an employee to keep busy except for when taking a designated break.

Can't speak for anyone else..... only myself. Over the years of 2019, 2020 and 2021, I have placed an average of 74 orders each year. I have paid $0 shipping and all were delivered. I would guess that each shipped order cost would start at about $15 each - Via Fedex and/or UPS. $15 x 74 orders would cost around $1,110 per year. Now, the $99 - $130 Prime fee looks to be a better deal for my use. And, the shipping cost has gone up. Now the average seems to be about $18.

Amazon works for me and so does Prime. If it does not work for others, then they should not use Amazon or Prime.

Those two orders, placed Friday afternoon and Saturday morning shipped yesterday, from the same place in the same package. 'Zon says it will be here tomorrow, UPS says Thursday. Wonder which day it will be.

Turns out ... neither.

Got to the local UPS hub this morning and there it sat. Never made it onto the truck despite the 'update' notice this morning saying delivery today. Now it says tomorrow ... maybe.

Amazon may be convenient, but they are often more expensive than other sources.

I had come to accept the Chinese dissident prisoner slave labor that manufactured the trailer jack I ordered from Amazon and got it for about half of what TSC wanted. But now I have to calm my conscience over Amazon slave labor.
If anyone has any horror stories of UPS drivers please keep them to yourself.

Where you at? I too had something delayed, after being messed up in Grand Rapids. Not the only one I heard from that has had a packaged delayed coming through Michigan. A truck accident maybe?

Where items are manufactured and by who is not controlled by Amazon (like it is for Apple).
I can get tools from US, Germany, China etc. on their site.
