American-made Grade 70 Chain & Binders???

Do you happen to know if these binders are American-made? The catalog cut doesn't say. Just "approved vendor." Was the Grade 70 chain American-made? Was it 3/8 inch?

I figured I might have to try Grainger. Very expensive and always a pain when you don't have a business account there... but worth a try. Thanks for reminding me.

I ran into the same problem, I was ready to buy Grade 70 3/8 inch chain at Tractor Supply until I saw a China tag on it. Lots of it on ebay but they never say if it's American made. Harbor Freight has some at good prices but still unsure of where it's made.

Yeah, that's the irony of it. Not criticizing anyone, but practically everyone here says to go out and buy American-made 3/8" Grade 70 chain and American-made binders... but try to actually do it! And what do you find? Nothing! Or at least nothing in 3/8 inch you can verify is American-made Grade 70. 5/16"? Yes! Grade 43? Yes! 3/8" grade 70 binders? Never!

Not mad... just discouraged.

I did a search and these people Chain & Accessories - HeavyDutyStore.com seem to have good quality merchandise. They also show "imported" when you look at the load binders. They do have the American made Lebus binders.

While I see certain items specifically marked "Made in USA"... I do not see that on their Grade 70 chain or binders. Or am I missing something?

In my experience, if it doesn't say "Made in USA"... 99.9% chance it's Chinese.

Call me skeptical... but I've been zinged too many times before to go on wishes or blind faith.

I must respectfully disagree with your assessment. I should have been 90% Chinese and 9.9% chance it's Indian. Especially if you buy at TSC.

I bought some 5/16 chain from Chappel Tractor. They have a place in Milford NH, not sure how far that is from you. I just checked and my chain does say L7 on some links, not all. Also, the Hooks say G70. I have no clue where it came from. I also bought some ratchet chain binders there. They say china unfortunatley. Chappell sells a lot of chains and heavy equipment (at least out of the Brentwood office) so I am sure the quality is up to snuff.

Yep, I know of Chappel. Good folks they say. But 5/16" wouldn't be legal for me as I read the laws. Gotta be 3/8 inch minimum by even a "liberal" read of the law.

Interesting that your chain is not marked on all links. I never thought of that. Maybe the Chinese 3/8 inch I found is also marked only on certain links and would at least be legal after all. Thanks for pointing that out!

The main store and supply area is at the Milford NH location. It would be worth it to give them a call. As was said earlier they do alot of business supplying heavy equipment haulers and they know what is good and what isn't. They also have a fantastic selection of chain and accessories.
