Ammunition

I went to a "red neck" (not really that but that's what people today would call it) school and all the guys with trucks had those rifle racks in the back windows with stuff in them. Won't see that today either!
I went to 5th and 6th grade in WVa, and we had 2 or 3 weeks of mandatory hunters safety in Shop class. No, we didn't bring guns in, but at least everyone got at least some supper basics of gun handling and safety. I see no Good reason kids shouldn't be at least taught that much in school; of coarse this was 20 years ago, and I doubt it's still like that

The vertical glass front gun cases you used to see in homes have also went by the wayside. At least to display guns in.

I remember when we were in high school, one of the seniors brought his WWII pistol collection to school for show and tell. He had 1911's and even had a P38. Which was the first P38 I had ever seen. We all did not think much about it back then, as guns were such a part of our everyday existence. We ALL had them.

Every male student at our school over the age of 12 had at least one firearm. Some of us including myself had several including handguns. Things were just different then. I had my little .22 rifle, my Herter's .357 magnum revolver, and my Stevens 16 gauge shotgun and my trusty 7.7 Jap bolt action high powered rifle. I guess that would be an assault rifle now, being that it was a military firearm and high powered and all.:)

Guy I used to work with has a Herter's single stage reloading press and all that goes with it. Only one I've ever seen in person!

Every hardware store and some department stores always stocked 22 lr, long and shorts. I don't remember ever seeing the boxes of 50 Lr over 50 cents for many years. I actually still have a few boxes :)
I had a habit just a few years ago of picking up the #525 rnd bricks at Wally World for $18.95 whenever I was there and thought of it.
I still think ammo is a good investment.
Cheapest I've seen now is #100 Cci mini mags for $8.95. Recently. That's the new bottom for right now and that's hard to find.

I use that black powder breach plug lube/anti-seize Thompson Center makes for muzzle loaders.

That's the best stuff. made for threads in firing conditions.

I use copper never sieze myself. Lots cheaper and works just as well.

Works as well, sure.

Way cheaper? Uh.. A hair cheaper if in bulk, if per package.. Then more expensive.

I just bought some permatex copper ns from orilies. 14.99

Knight and bb breech plug grease tubes are 4.99 and 5.99.

Smaller tubes.. Both would do dozens and dozens of plugs or chokes. By the ounce, bulk, the copper ns is a LITTLE cheaper.

I still have some TC Bore Butter for black power guns, isn't that close enough-ish for a choke tube lubber dubber?

NO!

Bore butter is a bore and action lube. It will age, harden and burn. Think of it as yellow Crisco!

There are many correct lubes named, there are many more alt ones that will work... Avoid the 'not ideal' and other 'poor long term' choices.
