I see this abbreviation alot. AMP or amp or &, what does it mean? I don't think it's short for amperage HELP!!!!!

AMP is a trade name for a connector series made by TYCO Electronics. The AMP line is their circular connectors made out of plastic, thus another name is CPC (circular plastic connector.) AMP could mean something totally different to others.

I have been injection molding "AMP" /"Tyco" products for 20yrs. "AMP" stands for " American Marine Products" which was the founding name of the company. Tyco Electronics purchased AMP on the stock market in 1997. Our company still molds parts with the AMP logo because there would be a significant cost to change the steel engraving in the molds, but all new mold-builds have the "Tyco" logo.

Amp may also refer, as you thought, to ampere, or amperage.. though many just use /a/ as in "I need a 15a fuse".. etc..

When ever "I" make a REAL boneheaded bid and get set, I always say "All my Partner" so as to put the blame of stupidity on my partner instead of me. (it's all in good fun

That has now been shortened by our opponents to "AMP" for "All My Partner". Even my partner now does it when SHE screws up, as a mockery of MY stupid bids
So there ya have it.
I highly doubt anything I've said has had any beneficial use for you though.

I highly doubt anything I've said has had any beneficial use for you though.
Depending on what you use for an internet browser, it may be a substitution for an ampersand (&). I used to use Mozilla and got it all the time. Not as prevalent with Firefox and you may never see it with Internet Explorer, since most stuff is optimized for Microsoft products.
