The big chain that took over our MF dealer closed it.

They bought the MF dealer but then closed the operation dwn? What purpose would here be in doing that?? In western WI, massey has been considerably growing its number of dealers . . not reducing.

I run Amsoil in everything. If your going
To use it regularly, become a preferred customer and it gets much more economical, as compared can to paying retail.

Without sounding like a total rookie . . does PermaTran come in the gc1700s when new? And is Permatran good for cold temps?

Lastly, I've read often over 20 years about using amsoil as a gas engine oil versus other brands. But what is different or nique about amsoil for scut tractor purposes compared to PermaTran?

Last time I checked, Permatran 3 was still the factory fill for MF tractors. It's a good quality product.

The Amsoil is better on paper, in extremely cold temps. It's also designed for longer intervals.

The GC 2310 owners manual calls for 20-30 minutes warm up time, below 24F, with Permatran. That is to warm up all that hydraulic oil.

How much you could shorten that with the synthetic oil, or how long you can extend the changing interval, is anyone's guess.

I use Amsoil. And, I have a 140 watt silicone pad heater on the bottom of the axle, which keeps the oil from getting real cold. I wait 5-10 minutes, after firing it up, and start plowing.

It was complete idiocy. The gentlemen that started it worked hard to restablish MF in the area, the second owner continued with that. He retired and a big chain bought our dealer. They got this idiotic idea thst if they kept a salesmen in the area and made a service truck svailable thst everything would be ok. I see this backfiring because that dealership moved a ton of compacts and smaller tractor and tillage tools. Ive heard that AGCO wants a dealership (bricks and mortsr included) back in the area. I hope they have no part of it.

Considering how good the GC1700 series had been doing (selling and expanding) since 2013 . . It sure seems like closing an existing dealership they paid to have . . to have a service truck instead is really short sighted for the idea of creating a lot more new customers . . . Which then creates the service needs. I'm not sure how the compact 1700s are doing . . But that 5 year warranty and a wide compact group of frame/engine sizing options have to be yet another loss in sales with no dealer in place to sell sell sell :)

And how do you ever recover those lost timing opportunities . . that are just gone?
