Grapple Anbo Grapple anybody know about these?

The top tine got bent while biting down on a rock. I have moved some very large rocks in addition to numerous large tree trunks and such.

The grapple is 25X better than a FEL blade for ripping out tree trunks and root balls, there really is no comparison.

You do NOT need a grapple as large as your bucket, a 48" grapple would be plenty for 95% of the applications I use my 66" on, plus it would weigh less too.
.

I don't think anyone doubts the Anbos are extremely well built but your experience with the rock shows one of the downsides of using high tensile steel (which is basically why the Anbo cost so much). I have picked up huge rocks with my 48 inch light duty grapple and also managed to bend the tips of the tines (especially when grasping the rock with just one:eek:) but with mild steel it was trivial to heat them and bend back into shape (as well as then weld some gussets to strengthen the tips a bit). With high tensile steel heating to straighten will, as I understand it, weaken the steel more and rewelding is a bit trickier.

I'll second your comments about how most CUT owners would be better off with a lighter duty narrower and most importantly less heavy grapple. A 48 inch mild steel 3/8 inch matches up pretty well with any CUT under 50hp or 3000lbs loader lift capacity IMO. The big Anbos are really designed for skidsteer use.

Temporarily installed the Anbo Grapple until I figure out how to mount the Hyd. quick connects in the front. Seems to be strong enough and the dog was a little impatient and didn't want to take time to get pics and griped that the safety police would complain about the FEL raised and the risk of a flop over. I let him know right off the bat who was boss and that I would post that it was a pose for pics only and they would understand.

The Anbo GRM series does use the AR400 steel but is not heavy it weighs in at #340 and that is why I bought it. If I were to have purchased a new one I would have picked the narrower unit probably the 48" but after using this unit I kinda like the wider unit when bushing brush up in a pile.

I'm surprised that grapple only weighs 340lbs. That is about what most of the 48 inch grapples like the Markham weigh and those are made with 3/8 inch steel. Isn't the Anbo 1/2 inch steel? From my recollection, most of the Anbo's (at least in the 66-72 inch range) weigh close to 1000lbs. I guess I am not familiar with the GRM series.

I was surprised at the weight but that is what they are quoting the grapple at in their info. I think the end tines are 1/2" and the inside tines are 6" on center and are 3/8" thick. I would have to go measure to be sure though.

I'm even more surprised at their quoted weight after looking at their model. The one they show in the brochure has 12 bottom and 12 top semi tines. Assuming six inch spacing that is 66 inches wide which correlates with a stated weight of 340lbs.:eek::eek: My 48 inch Millonzi has six bottom tines and only a two tine top and weighs between 280-300. Yours also has much beefier ?4x4 or bigger square tubing as a backbone while I think mine is about 3x3. That looks like a pretty solid mount too.

The equivalent size WRLong RGB clamshell which has an almost identical design to yours but is made of mild steel is reported to weigh 630lbs and their lighter duty OBG2 64 inch weighs 490 while the more equivalent OBG1 64 weighs 656lbs.

The 48 inch Markhams are said to weigh in somewhere around 340-350 and they are considerably smaller than what you have on your tractor.

I dunno but I'd like to see someone stick one of those puppies on a scale to see what it really weighs. I'd guess yours is at least 500lbs and probably closer to 600.

Bottom line is that you got it for a great price and your loader lifts it. With about 1600-1800 lbs lift capacity, you might have difficulty with big rocks and stumps but for brush and smallish trees you should be in great shape.

I will call Anbo and see if they have made a mistake on the weight in their brochure (stranger things have happened). I am able to lift one end of the grapple when it off of the tractor though. This grapple is not as heavy as the one that Skypup has nor is my FEL as strong. I will do some field testing and post some pics as soon as I can talk the dog into letting me have some seat time. He does get hungry and I have some turkey leftovers that may interest him for a bit.:D

if you look at dex's brochure, you will see that the weights do not include mounts, hoses, and cylinders.

Ordered the owners manual for the grapple today. Maybe it has the weight of the unit in it. The hoses were maybe 15# and the mount is made onto the grapple I cant tell from reading the brochure if it includes the SS mounting or not.

It would be odd for Anbo to quote a weight that did not include the welded on mount or the hydraulic cylinders. These are all part of the grapple after all and it is total grapple weight that is important both for shipping and to determine what capacity loader to match with each grapple size.
