Mike,

Thanks for the good info. Now I see where the weight savings come into play with the Borgford Grapple. Still, even though it is lighter weight steel than the other two, I bet it would be a great piece of equipment to have around. Can't imagine I would have any tasks that it would not be capable of handling.

The quick-attach company "mission statement" is very strange....."enlarging god's kingdom". I guess that's some sort of means to justify construction LOL.... I find it funny anyway.

Mike,

I've got the Kubota controls you speak of....really nice setup. I'm still waiting for the grapple to magically appear.

Jim,

Do you have Part numbers and what I should expect to be paying for installation of the Joystick and Front remotes?

Thanks,

Mike

It is not lighter weight steel. If you cut the Borgford tines out of a sheet of 3/4" plywood, you would need less sheets total than if you cut the Anbo out for 1/2" plywood. Thats why it weights a little less, It is physically a bit smaller. Weight goes down to the cube of linear dimension. I just dont see having to open the jaws more than 42". Thats close to a two ton Rock!

Marooned, This is a very personal observation and I know that there will be pros and cons to either style grapple rake. I own an 84" BTR grapple rake that I bought from CEattachments the moving jaws are on top there are 2 that work and close independently of each other they are operated hydraulicly through one valve but they can bottom out at different widths. I originally got it to gather up already cut cedar trees and to stack into pile to burn but after using it, it's kinda like a tractor with a loader bucket I've found many uses for it way more then I'd imagined although my favorite is still the fact I can pick up a entire tree and hold it at chainsaw cutting height, no more bending down or repositioning logs to cut firewood. My point in mentioning the split grapple is if your only picking up logs a solid grapple is fine I'd bet but when your pushing into cedar piles to gather and stack its darn nice to have two jaws clamping at different size openings as I rarely loose any of my load since its clamped tightly in the jaws instead of only at whichever end comes in contact first. You'll find a bunch set up different ways if you do a google search for grapple rakes. I attached a picture of mine, by the way I think they are all made pretty well if you go with a reputable company if I had to do it over I'd go cheaper mine was over $4,000 by the time it was mounted and plumbed.

Also try
Addington Equipment

I bought one back in Sept. '05 and love it. I also think it opens wider than the previous mentioned.

Dale Brogford does, claw buckets, grapples and dozer blades for me and is only about 2 hours away. He takes great pride in his manufacturing and I would always consider his stuff as the quality is second to none.

Dales makes each piece of equipment to order and he is an absolute perfectionist. If you are considering Borgford then I would tell you to consider it a bit more as I personally know his quality and am a regular customer of his.

Thanks,
Maka

Addington Equipment is located only 20 miles from my property, Borgford is 3,000 miles.

Addington Equipment is carried by my dealer. My salesman owns one for his 4520 Greenie. It is light strong and expensive, at least from my dealer.

I have a lot of logging waste to back rake and a lot of large cobble to back rake for reclaimation too. I want something that will do this with the top claw. That is why I did not persue the Addington Equipment grapple.

Perhaps I should have called Addington direct to negotiate price and ask if they do rake style upper tines on the upper claw.
