they need to find some no ferrous metal magnets

I have some and they are available for only 4 easy payments of $19.99 plus $10 shipping and handling. In fact, there is an internet special going on right now for any one dumb enough to order one. I'll deliver it via the internet, you can then download it (mass loss due to transmission across the web is normal, to be expected and will not impact functionality*).

Product is fully guanteed to cost you four easy payments of only $19.99 - (all other guarantee's strictly voided). Remember, if you find any other "no ferrous metal magnets" and they perform better then we will cheerfully spend your money! Hurry - offer ends as soon as the cops arrest us!

*Functionality can't be reduced any lower as it only guaranteed to cost you 4 easy payments of only $19.99.

One of the reasons it especially makes sense to use magnets in the hydraulic tank of the PT is that not all of the pumps on the PT have a filter on them. So some of the oil passes through the system unfiltered.

I will check the magnets after a while and let people know what i find.

I have also seen lots of quotes saying that much of the damage to hydraulics is done by particulates in the 4 - 6 micron range.

Why not just install a By-Pass filter ? They are available in <1 Micron Ratings which will keep any oil or hydraulic fluid analytically clean.

Just be sure if you go to one of the lube joints, that they install the magnets on your new filter. We installed some magnets on some of the CNG converted vehicles at the Gas Utility I work for when I worked in the garage. Sometimes the service guys would take their trucks to a jiffy lube or whatever was close to them if they needed an oil change and wasn't near the shop, and magnet would usually get tossed with the old filter. If your doing your own oil changes, (and my guess is most of us are), this won't be a problem.

Then again, we are not launching our tractors out of the barn at 5000 rpm-hopefully.
ROFL!! :) That's a good one!! :)

The hydraulic filter on my Kubota L2800 has a large round removable magnet on the inside that can be cleaned and moved to the next filter when you change.

Does it matter where on the exterior of the oil filter a magnet is placed?

A drain plug magnet should do the same thing. When I was young ( a long time ago) we put cow magnet on the fuel lines of our cars 100% better millage.20 years ago the thing was magnets on the waterlines of your house 100% better water now we put magnets on the bad knee joint 100% better in 1 hour. This sounds like a good idea my oil will last 100% longer.

Travis, I had forgotten about the cow magnets straped on the side of the fuel lines for better milage!

Yeah, people were doing all kinds of things to up fuel economy back in '75-'76 when the price rocketed up over 50 cents a gallon. Man, what a pinch in the pocket book! I remember running dad's Ford 500 4 door all night, putting in 2 bucks and having more fuel in it for him than he left in it for me.

Ah the days of gas a $0.289 at gallon......
