I saw (several times) today Turkey Vultures running down the back roads ahead of my truck, in this EXTREME cold. Is the extreme cold preventing the necessary lift for (rotate) takeoff? I tried to give them the soda crackers I had on board, but they are too aloof.

Maybe waiting for you to freeze to death. Next meal? ;)

The fact is that cold air is denser thus the take off run should be shorter and with better lift that Turkey could carry a bigger load thus the soda crackers would not be a problem.

I don't know what made me think cold air was not as dense. Frozen Bwain! For some reason, I have always thought that! Maybe thinking hot air has he molecules moving faster equals denser. Duh!

OK, I have a scientific background, I am a simulationist (NASTRAN & Matlab-Simulink) still practicing, have been a rocket scientist (Saturn-V Base Heating) . I have a real Nuclear Bomb Effects Circular Slide rule computer (as seen in the Dr. StrangeLove movie, and have a special interest in astronomy.

What would you like an opinion on ? Just the facts, Mam.

IMO, The Sat V was the most impressive mobile machine ever built...The images of those liftoffs are burned into my visual memory...

Do they even teach engineering students how to use a slide rule anymore?

Astronomy is the science that is like a drug in the way it can remove you from all senses of our material, terrestrial world...

And now we are starting to think about the possibility of there being another universe nearby separate from our own (The Great Attractor)

No opinions on the properties of Dark Matter. So far all we know is that it is affected by gravity. And it may be just a fudge factor needed by astronomers to explain cosmological characteristics in the face of a uniform mass distribution assumption. If it's not, no need for the Dark Matter correction factor (crutch).

First...You didn't do anything...(see the caveat at the top of the OP)

Second...you brought up the state(s) of matter...I just expanded your question after answering it...

Third...Now you have changed horses in the middle of the stream...first you asked about ice accumulation in below freezing conditions...and said you didn't care about glacier formation...now you are asking about climatic conditions for glaciers to form and grow...

...sorry to confuse you...

Please; you've not confused me. But, you do keep evading the original question and attempt some diversions to avoid an answer.

Can't recall changing the question and I doubt if your explanation on the state of matter explains anything.

Now how about answering the question. If you don't know the answere that is fine but do acknowledge that fact.

I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. For me, I just like to ask very simple questions and see if any of the believers reply. Most seem to be focused on the more complex aspects of global warming and over think it. I guess that somehow allows them to ignore the basic lies that it's taken to push global warming. Others are justifiably concerned with pollution, and use that concern and global warming to try to do something about it, regardless that they are totally different. I'm all for a cleaner environment, but I'm against increasing taxes and regulations to stop something that isn't happening so lobbyist can get billions of or tax paid dollars to continue pushing an agenda. Green energy has already caused more damage to the planet then oil ever will.

It's just a matter of time until this thread gets closed down too. Might as well have fun with it while it lasts.

Please elaborate... I'm not looking to call you out, I seriously would like to know what you are referring to. Thanks

Is it too soon to start whapping another horse? Lol

At first I thought I signed into the wrong forum? This is TractorByNet......right.

Perhaps my avatar is most appropriate?

Theories are nothing more than " a best guess " until proven. I don't believe we have a proofed theorem on any of this. " I believe " doesn't count....

Just off the top - I'd say it must be cold and must snow. Put another way - winter time on the glacier must be greater( greater time, greater cold) than summer time. I know there are very specific terms to describe all this - but I'm not that familiar with them.

It would seem that right now a lot of glaciers are getting more summer warmth than winter cold & snow.

All good but how does the snow develop & fall when all is below freezing?
