Thanks...my neighbor and I were joking that we'd probably have to charge $1,000 to make a profit! Scrap steel is running about $.30/lb here. I'm not done with this....probably add something to hang rakes, shovels, etc, but it's functional now.

For the first Tim, I can max out the loader, and not lift the rear tires!

30 cents a pound.....wow.

Is that what you buy it for or is that also what you get for selling scrap?

I wish that's what they bought it for....I sold them almost two tons that day! They're paying around $.07/lb right now for steel/iron. Copper wire in the insulation was $.60/lb, and aluminum was $.30/lb. Copper wire not in the insulation is around $1.25/lb.

The scrap I was selling was from the foreclosed house two doors down that we bought, but it had been mostly stripped by vandals. We also bought the foreclosed house right next door, and that one is completely intact, so we'll get a lot more in the way of scrap metals....all the wiring, all the appliances, aluminum trip etc. The second one is where our barn is going, so the tractors will have a new home :drink:

Good idea to use the expanded metal for the bottom of the chain box. Don't want it to be too heavy.

What a great counterweight! I like the fact that it's so heavy but yet compact. Doesn't cut down much rearward visibility. Nice fab job too.

I decided to box in the front legs as well....it wasn't sitting flat with the extra layer on the rear. Sorry all the lines are skewed in this pic....I was rushing.

That looks good. Another spot for a chain tray? Axe, shovel, chainsaw holder? You have a winner here.

I'm not sure about doing anything with the front section. I try to avoid sticking limbs, or valuables in/around/under the 3pt as much as possible, so I might just leave it the way it is, and add some tubes for rakes, shovels, etc on the sides. More to follow, I'm sure!
