A while back I started a thread with a Subject line something like "One Dealer Down..." I think it was on the Kubota forum, since I was looking only at Kubotas then. Since then I've widened my search.
I've got a job, so it ain't easy for me to go visit a tractor place between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. With parenting and family obligations, even Saturday can be tough. Today I found myself with a little free time on my hands, so I decided to go visit the only Kioti dealership in the area. Yeah, I knew they wouldn't be open, but I thought I could still have a peak, see what they look like.
So I headed up to Poland, Maine, about half an hour from here, home of Gary's Garage, a Kioti dealer. Long driveway, with a rope across it. So I parked my truck and the end and wandered up. The driveway was lined with old rusty backhoes, excavators, etc. I caught a glimpse of some bright orange up ahead, right at the end of the drive, so I picked up the pace. Got about 50 feet from the orange when I heard a voice. Looked up. Turns out there's a house there, and there's a guy with no shirt on looking out what seems to be his bedroom window. "That rope across the driveway is there for a reason." Must've been Gary.
I respect people's privacy, as a rule. I'd never roam through someone's yard on purpose. But I didn't really expect to find this guy's house at the end of the driveway at a tractor dealership. More than once when I was in the market for a car I've wandered through car lots during off hours. I didn't see the harm in taking a quick peak at what might've been my future tractor.
Well, I turned around and walked back down the drive, got in my truck, and left. Guess I won't be buying a tractor from Gary. On a positive note, right across the street from Gary's place was a sign that said "pure maple syrup." Turned out to be maple syrup day or something, and they had free samples, ice cream sundays, and so on. So I stopped in and had a sunday. It was good.
