Another dealership assembly blunder? Or new hydraulic fitting type?

If that's an O-ring, my Deere 80 loader has an O-ring there and an additional thin nut to compress it on the fitting. If that's just a manufacturer's label, it may just be a scan code and a warning label for Californians to no injest more than 20 of these fittings at a time and that they can cause cancer in rats, tractor users, and Twitter addicts.

Maybe just the retaining ring from the dust cap and the cap was yanked off later?

Uh, wow. Okay. What the h3ll? It did feel really rubbery but it also felt trapped in the treads.

Also it could be a thread lubricant that squishes out as the fitting is tightened leaving that washer like ring.

I have seen these "rings" before. Not sure of the purpose but it's just a ring.

Are these machines run down an assembly line? Could the rings be left over from some sort of collation process bringing the fittings to the assembly point?
