87 Bolen's G274 last 4 or 5 year PTO works well until it runs for a while maybe 1 hour, then it starts to get stopped by taller grass, Basically no power.
You can lift it out of the grass and it will spin back up but stop as soon as you put it back down. My 1st thought was fluid but it has been replaced along with the filter that was added to the hydraulics a long time. Next thought was may be the solenoid that engages the PTO but If you put your finger on the back of it you can feel the plunger move in and out, sill might be related though.
Was hoping someone else might give some suggestion to what might be taking place or what to test next.
Understand this tractor has been in the family for over 20 years and it has always worked, PTO for Brush hog and Box blade are the main things it does, except last 4 or 5 years or so when the PTO problem started. I just swapped with a buddy who had a Jinma 284 with a weak lift that would not lift round bails of hay but PTO for brush hog worked great and the G274 lifted the bail with no problems.
I just need to get the PTO straighten out on the Bolens
