I’d have to say the opposite. My L3240 was a WAY nicer machine than my grandpas L3800. Unless there’s a good reason why you absolutely have to have the bigger machine I’d rather have the smaller nicer machine.

The M6060 is hardly a standard L. It has most of the same features as the Grand Ls, only missing out on those tied to the HST+ trans. The L3240 is also not smaller than the L3800 in any metric other than HP. Again, I'd say at least look at both sized machines, and buy the one you like more.

My L3240 wasn’t smaller. It was nearly 1,000 pounds base tractor weight heavier, and the loader lifted 700 pounds more. I thought MX was a bare bones machine and this discussion was between a Grand L and a bigger MX?

No, the dealer quoted a M6060, a full sized utility machine, instead of a grand L, which would meet the OPs needs, and we(I) were theorizing as to why.

The larger Grand Ls cost as much, or more than the M6060/M7060. On paper the M6060 is much more machine. The only "hard" advantages the Grand Ls have are the trappings related to the HST+ trans. There are other "soft" advantages, that you can't put numbers to or really see until you run both machines. The dealer was trying to give OP the best bang per buck based on the tasks listed, but looks a bit silly next to the Branson and Massey offerings.

To help steer the dealers...
For a 6' brush hog, PTO should be? 21-35 hp?
For stacking rounds, 1500lb capacity to be safe @ full height (at pins?) ?
The general rule of thumb is 5PTO HP per foot for "normal" mowing and more for heavy mowing (thick brush).
That would put you at a minimum of 30 PTO HP for the mower.
Bale weight depends on the bale size and forage type. Figure 1000-2000# per bale.

Height may have something to do with it.Are you going to be stacking bales two high on a trailer.

Or unloading them from a trailer that is stacked two high...

There is a machine that might be better than a tractor for you like it is for me: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...pact-telehandler-post3243370.html#post3243370

There are several companies making Compact Telehandlers, so it doesn't have to be a Bobcat.

The V519 is the one Bobcat sells now: V519 VersaHANDLER Telescopic Tool Carrier - Bobcat Company

Going to test drive the M6060 tomorrow as it is in town and check it out. I drove my neighbor's 5100E for a good 3-4 hours last weekend so that is still fresh from a test and compare standpoint. I know the 5055E I am shopping against is smaller than the 5100E I've driven, but on paper the Kubota looks to have everything I want and don't want (lighter, less length, less height, more width).

I'm in East tx also (Texarkana area) and you could plant pine in the back and far back pasture and then not have to worry about mowing. Of course that would change the type of tractor you need.

If I had your layout I would probably go with a cab and 50-60 hp size. Buy new since most brands have 0% financing. Hopefully you have a dealer within 30 minute drive.

You can see my property has mostly trees so I ended up going with a compact tractor that I bought new at Kubota (L3301). Use a zero turn to mow about 2 acres in front of my house and by the road. I'll use the tractor for clearing between trees and landscaping.
