Another Load of Firewood

GregJ, and that was only half my firewood.... I had another pile just like it about 100 yards away. One is all gone and the other is down to about 15 cords. I have delivered 80 cord of wood since July. As for those three 'young bucks'.... they are local high school kids that I hired to help. It cuts down on the profits, but it's much easier on this old body.

And I'll bet that those pallets are more like 1/4 cord apiece. That stacking method helps to dry them out much quicker, but is not nearly as tight a stack to meet the legal requirements for a cord in Maine. But I am glad to see that you can relax all winter. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Must be kinda tricky playing tennis on that court...Next time you have a game going, be sure to post pictures /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Rozette,
I get tired just thinking about all that firewood. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

As far as "true" quantity on those boards.... If I weren't so lazy, I'd restack a board tight to see what it really is..... But I guess this whole process shows how lazy I really am... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually after stacking tight and loose for many years, my "educated" guess is around a third of a cord. The wood overhangs the board all the way around and some are taller than 4 feet. I guess we'll never know, unless I get a burst of energy someday.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

NeedToBuildMore,
Sheesh..... Anybody can see that's not a tennis court..... It's a pickleball court. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pickleball is a great game that was invented here in the NW. It's played on a 20x44 court with an oversized pingpong paddle and a softball size whiffle ball. Great game. Here's a link Pickleball . And besides being a fun game, it makes a great staging area for firewood.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

GregJ.
Good responses.
I think you have a real winner of a firewood management system.
One of the reasons I asked all those questions was my L3130 capacities are something like this:

LA513 FEL:1050#
3 pt: 3700#

Therefore, I figured on buying a 3 pt, pallet mover, capacity about 2000# and it should move any 4' pallet that I have. My FEL doesnt look like it would do the job with forks loaded the way you did it...

thanks,
dwight

At least you have a dumper trailer /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That dump trailer was a great buy on Ebay. It's a 12K pounder that was only 6 months old. I spent six months watching all the trailers and finally got that one when no one was bidding. I only paid $2900 and had to drive to SC to pick it up. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
