Another new buyer pre-purchase question

We have five acres in Southern FL. It's in fairly natural state except for where the house and pond are. Unfort It's an area of Dade County Slash Pine, palmetto, Oak and other scrub, and unfortunately Brazilian Peppers. Some of it can get wet at times. I have been pulling palmettos, peppers, vines, etc with my pickup truck. I want to get nearly 3 acres mowable.

The 200 acre Florida gated residential community on which I tractor has the same verdure. I have worked this land for nine years, first with a <2,000 pound Kubota "B", soon sold, now with a 3,600 pound bare tractor weight Kubota L3560.

A subcompact tractor with 9" of ground clearance will have a difficult time getting into the three acres you want to improve. Potentially once in there, it won't have the weight to do what you wish. Your truck is likely heavier than a 1,700 pound bare weight subcompact tractor.

Considering your experience operating a 2,500 pound Ford 1710 with 15" ground clearance, I find your consideration of any subcompact or the lighter compact tractor models mystifying. However, it is your hard earned money and I wish you the best.

Five reasons owner/operators trade up from Subcompact Tractors:
More tractor weight.
More FEL lift capacity.
Greater ground clearance
More tractor horsepower
Three-range (3) HST (Lower LOW, Higher, HIGH) rather than two-range (2) HST.

Did you watch the Messick's video in Post #3?

Other than the sub-compacts I can't find any New Hollands to look at, although I liked the sub-compact. There's a sort of local dealer but he didn't have any and was just trying to sell Kioti.

New Holland subcompact and compact tractors are mostly LS brand tractors badged for New Holland. You can likely purchase an LS tractor model less expensively from an LS tractor dealer than from a New Holland tractor dealer.

Of the three Korean tractor brands marketed in the USA I would place Kioti #1, LS #2 and TYM #3. Other contributors may differ.

The two tractor brands which out-source very, very few tractor components are Kubota and Kioti.

The out of State dealer I'm looking at is for a brand I have a dealer for fairly locally (None are real local) but they deal mainly in heavy construction equipment but should be able to do warranty work and order parts for a compact.

Spoke to one of my former coworkers today. He's had an LS for about 7 years. A 38hp or so 2WD. Basically light use of mowing with a finish mower. Said the biggest thing he's had to replace was the water pump. He did say it came with a junk battery. He does have to travel 100+ miles for parts but does his own work on it. The Mahindra was considerably more roomy and comfortable, at least the one I tried out at that dealer that was comparable size to the Mahindra.

I still have no idea which way to go. Wife likes the Mahindra. I like the way it's laid out too. On paper I'm kinda liking the Massey, or at least the 17 thru 19 leftovers the out of State dealer has. I plan to go to Orlando tomorrow to actually see one in person. Other than the sub-compacts I can't find any New Hollands to look at, although I liked the sub-compact. There's a sort of local dealer but he didn't have any and was just trying to sell Kioti.

I have mahindra tractor, a Max 26xl to be more specific.
The problem with mahindra is when you need parts, other than regular maintenance such as Hydraulic, Oil and fuel filter.
FYI, two weeks into tractor ownership one of my hydraulic lines busted, it took over one 1/2 month to get a replacement. I had to take the busted line into a hydraulic shop and they made a new one for me.
The other day I was looking to get a full set of wheels and tires, just because I wanted a set of turf ready tires, and they couldn't get me the set.
I'm strongly considering selling and getting a Kubota LX.

That particular mahindra you are looking at, the 1626, is mostly a Mitsubishi tractor, which is good.

You seem to be getting a good deal on the Kubota L2510, that loader is kind of weak but is a solid machine.
From the machines you listed, on paper, the Kioti is the most capable one.
Regarding the Massey Ferguson, check their 1735M, very capable tractor with plenty of features and you should be able to get it at a price, plust they have a decent dealer network with good support.

Good luck in your search.

We have five acres in Southern FL. It's partly in fairly natural state except for where the house and pond are. Unfortunately, it's been neglected for many years. It's an area of Dade County Slash Pine, palmetto, Oak and other scrub, and unfortunately Brazilian Peppers. Some of it can get wet at times. I have been pulling palmettos, peppers, vines, etc with my pickup truck.

I want to get nearly 3 acres mowable. I'm in the market for a compact tractor in the 25 hp range, maybe a bit more. I'm looking at all brands and can use some suggestions. Cost is most definitely a consideration otherwise I'd be looking at larger machines.

I'm looking at out of state dealers too who offer delivery such as Brunos. Any out of state shipping dealer suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'd be interested in a discount shipping New Holland dealer as well as others.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Well, I know some will think I made a mistake. I went with a Mahindra 1635 HST with loader, hoe, box blade, forks and rotary mower. I almost went with a Kobata but the hoe was too much more and the Mahindra seemed to have more room and more bells and whistles.

Any compact tractor purchase should make you happy. I don't think your Mahindra is made in India, which is a good thing. Have fun! Post Pics.

From 1969 t0 1981, Harley Davidson was owned by AMF, and quality went down the toilet. To paraphrase an old joke:

How is a made in India Mahindra like a made by AMF Harley Davidson? --- They both quit dripping a half an hour after they've been ridden.
