I'm curious too, how did you fit your BX25 on a ten foot trailer? Do you have pictures? I have a BX24 and am still looking for the right trailer at the right price. ie cheap. Enjoy your new tractor.

Matt.

I've only trailered my BX23 with a 10' rail type sports car trailer... it was what I had at the time. The Loader extended over the rails and was chained down to the "A" frame hitch tongue. The Backhoe was turned all the way and also chained down.

Trailer and BX came in a little under my States 3500# limit.

*How did you get a 15 foot long tractor on a 10 foot trailer?
You need at least a 16 foot long dull axle trailer with brakes on all 4 wheels.
The load capacity should be at least 7000 .
More would be better .
You also need at least a 3/4 ton truck to toe with.
I've been told this is the least I need for hauling my BX23 ever sense I got it in 2004.
I'd say hauling a BX25 is way way overloading the little 10 foot trailer & is very unsafe for you and all those inocents who share the road with you .

congratulations on the BX23 but please be safe.

This requirement will obviously work but it is overkill. A BX TLB according to the specs is 2300 lbs. Why would 7000lbs be the minimum. I have a l3130 TLB that would work on your minimum requirement. My BX2660 looks like a toy when I put it on my 18ft trailer. I am all for safety as much as the next guy. I would be more than comfortable hauling a BX with an SUV or 1/2 ton truck with a small trailer.

Think it would be ok to haul my BX23 on a 14 foot trailer?
Should it have 1 axle or 2?
What about trailer brakes 2 wheels or 4 wheels?
The only thing i have to tow a trailer with is a Toyota, Dodge D50 or Nissan pick up . Would that work.?

lbrown, let take a step back and look at the weights here. A TLB with MMM will tip scales at 2557lbs. A single axel with 3500lb rating will only leave you 943 lbs left. how much will the trailer weigh ? 900 lbs ? what about the chains and binders weight? diesel fuel ? other things you need at the site you transporting to ? i am not sure about your state but new York state requires that if a trailer and load will be over 3000lbs, we must have brakes on the trailer. i am not saying you cant do it with a 10 footer single axel with no brakes, i am just saying do you really like to have your heart pounding during the 5 mile trip or 100 mile trip towing over 1.5 tons behind you safely ? i believe we all are good drivers here, but it only takes ONE idiot in front of you to mess it up in less then a second. SO that being said if TLB with MMM and other implements like bush hog will tip the scales over 3000lbs and the 16 footer dual axel trailer weight 1700lbs with 7k rating will be nearly 5000lbs  . So with the weight in mind and towing with your Toyota, Dodge D50 or Nissan pick up or my Chevy blazer (like me) with 5k rating will be right at the towing capacity. I have dual electric axel brakes and i love it. It makes stopping a breeze. I hate towing anything at or over 2k on my single axel as it takes too long to stop. Overkill ? not with the setup i have. its the bare minimum and my next truck is gonna be a full size vehicle if i can help it. Sorry about the long winded post but we need to step back and think about the TOTAL wieght of everything.

If you plan to tow on public roads it is your duty to know the regulations so that you operate legally.

What is legal in one jurisdiction does not mean it is legal in another. Some states have reciprocity and others don't.

In my case, I was towing legally for my State.

I wouldn't fault anyone for using equipment rated higher then the minimum requirements.

I restore antique cars which meet few, if any, modern requirements... however, they are legal to operate if maintained and/or restored to OEM at the time of manufacture.

Trailer Brake Law in CA is also affected by the date of initial registration of the trailer.

Re: a 10' trailer. It's easy - just set the FEL over the front of the trailer and onto the "Y" part of the frame. You just need to get an extended receiver for the hitch so you don't hit the tow vehicle when turning. The, since my trailer sides are only 16" high, the backhoe sticks out the back, and when you place the tractor as far forward as you can, you have just the right amount of weight on the hitch.

The Tractor only weighs less than 2700 lbs with both the BH and FEL, so if your trailer is light enough (mine is) you can stay under the 3,000 lb. no-brakes-required limit.

As to the tow vehicle, lots of SUV's will tow 3,000 lbs easily, although I used my FORD F150. (By the way if your trailer is too light duty, you can always carry the FEL in the back of your truck!)

1*I haven't noticed that.
2*That's mostly a matter of operator experience as you can drag most tractors forward with the BH.
3*No big deal to me.
4*Not unless you can figure out how to face 2 different directions at the same time.
5*Most people add their own lights on most brands or models.
6*My BX23 is very quiet and smooth running.
My old Bolens and my CC GT 2554 Gas engines are a lot louder than any of my BX diesels.
7*I wouldn't have anything but AG/ Bar tires on a tractor.
They were standard on my BX23 and are not wimpy.
8* Of the 3 tire styles , industrial tires would be my last choice.
I've heard it more than once that industrial tires turn into racing slicks in mud or snow.

L . B .
Hey LB, thanks for the feedback re: BAR tires - I knew I shouldn't have listened to the dealer! (I was suspicious that he just didn't want the hassle of changing the tires, and waiting for the delivery, as the tractor came stock with the industrial.)

I have been using the tractor in deep gravel, and so far so good, as long as I use 4WD and lock the rear wheels, but I think I am going to have to spring for BAR tires, as I really want to use the tractor in mud and in winter. I even thought of using ATV tires (like Mudlites, which are awesome in mud), but they may not carry the weight, and the rear clearance between the rear tires and one side of the BH is very little on the BX25 (like and inch or two). Has anyone experimented with other tires, e.g., on the BX24 or the BX25?

Matt.
Hey, Matt! As I mentioned in my earlier post, you can fit the BX25 (and, I believe, the BX24) on a 10 ft. trailer, but just barely, and you have to extend your receiver hitch (in my case, by about a foot) because the FEL sticks out 20" or more over the front of the trailer. Note that the backhoe sticks out the back as well, so flag it with a red flag. (A bit silly, really, since the whole tractor is blaze organge, but I beieve it is the law in Ontario.)

Now, to be honest I wouldn't drive all over ****'s half-acre with this rig, and I'm glad I towed with my new F150 Supercrew pickup which has AWESOME brakes. I just towed it to my cottage from the dealer and that's it - maybe 60 km (which is less than 40 miles American). In the future, I am looking for trailer brakes to add on to that 5' X 10' trailer, not so much because of the weight issue, but because electric trailer brakes are a great way to minimize and control sway - a potentially serious problem with longer rigs. So, you don't need a killer trailer with respect to capacity for these BX's, but I would spend the extra money for brakes (electric, not surge) if you are going to trailer any distance at all.

One more issue: When loading the beast onto yout trailer, you have to (a) block the back end of the trailer so you don't put too much reverse load on the tow vehicle's trailer hitch while loading, and (b) use real strong ramps. In my case, I used portable folding steel ramps with only 1500 lb. capacity, but I put blocks directly under the folding joint and had no problem.

Good luck with your trailer purchase!

Matt.
I'd like to be able to haul my BX23 on a 14 foot tilt /dump bed trailer towed with my Nissan pick up.

My bx25 is just shy of 2700 pounds with the hoe and fel.
why would you need a 7000 pound trailer for it?:confused2:.
