I forgot to post that I put about another 5 hours into this to this stage.

Pics:

In the following 2 pictures, you can see the angle iron I added to add strength to make up for the cut out of the 3x3. I drilled a hole to provide access to remove the bolt on the pin.

I degreased the orange ears, then sanded them to remove loose paint and rough up the orange paint.

Great Job..I considered a self build myself but ended up buying a direct fit. I also had to cut the ears off and weld my plate on but it all worked out well..
Its been 2 years now and Ive gotten used to the slightly less capacity of it.(due to extending the points out). But the multi uses have outweighed the loss of curl back etc..Your gonna love it.

Oh one thing I added that was simple and SO useful was. on the cross bar, I welded a trailer ball on it. I cut the shaft off of the ball and then welded it onto it so it didnt interfere. Makes for moving the trailer simple

Thanks for the comments guys. I will probably also put a receiver hitch or trailer ball on the cross arm. It is not a heavy cross member but for trailer moving it should be ok.

I have to admit, I was a little worried when I first started cutting the ears off -- a point of no return.

I sprayed some orange on it. I'm going to wait until the paint is hard on the QA before I fit up the plate on the bucket and weld it.
