The Wife came back from walking the dogs to inform me there was a dead coyote at the top of our hill. She wanted me to bury it. I thought for a moment and told her I'd bury it with my new backhoe. She thought for a moment and told me she guessed it would just have to rot.

I was briefly hopeful. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I'd wait about a week, and tell her... "Honey, Babe, Sugar... that coyote is still laying there, rotten, smelling up a storm...

Would be nice about now to have that backhoe and get rid of it...Babydoll..." /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for the laugh /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. I've tried a similar logic on my wife with the same results. Kinda like trying to catch that wise old fish (not that your wife is a fish /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, or old /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif). You can see 'em swimming up to the bait, they circle for a minute, then swim off. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Peter,

I forgot to mention, you have to be subtle and not too obvious... don't want her to catch on or anything... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

...and won't a dead coyote just attract more?

Do you guys really have that much trouble with the wife? I see phrases like can't convinced the wife, trying to talk her into it, etc. all over this board. Am I the only one here that does not have this problem. Now that I think about it, my wife is the one trying to convince me. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif She has been bugging me all week to get a 10hp chipper shredder on sale at home depot for $597 so we don't have to drag off the limbs.

CR, some of us are just very lucky..... I have heard "Will you go buy that bulldozer and get me a place cleaned off so we can put up that barn."

But on the other side no one wants their spouse to spend $10-20k in one quick shot with out at least talking it over and getting some kind of agreement on it. Would you like to come home an find a new pink Cady, or two walls missing form your living room. "I thought we would just add a new den and get all new carpet."

In marketing there is an emphasis on keeping your "product" on the customer's mind. I had good luck on getting my bandsaw by grinning and commenting "gee, the ___ would get done faster if I had a bandsaw." Course I never limited myself to anything that actually would need a bandsaw/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Gotta watch those pauses though - try just responding as if you have the 'hoe... Good Luck!

My sweetie would just smile, take me by the hand out to the shed, hand me the pick axe and a shovel and point. At that point, I'd know two things: 1. No backhoe. 2. The coyote was gonna get buried, by me, right away.

I do love her a lot, though (my sweetie, not the coyote.)

While my wife and I are penurious, but we have an agreement either can spend $1000 withour asking/confering with the other. I do have a plus here though. We mainly use both our tractors for business, so I can usually justify it, as long as I can pay it off in 2 years. So far, I've been able to write off all my toys.

It's not that I normally have that much trouble with her. It's just that less than a year ago she dished out $20k cash for Clementine and all sorts of implements...then this year gave me my Christmas present (logging winch) early. So complaining at this point would be construed as bad form. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif Oh how I loved making that last student loan payment!!!

pe•nu•ri•ous (pú-nÜry-ús, -nyÜr2-) adj. 1. Ungenerously or pettily unwilling to spend money.

I thought I was reasonably well educated when I joined this forum, but my vocabulary gets challenged (and hopefully expanded) almost daily here. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Just goes to show you -- tractor folks are a breed apart. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

My wife bought a house thru the sheriff's sale that needed a bunch of fixing. I told her I wasn't going to participate but she got it and when you get the money tied up you have to do something. All the way thru the project I got every dirty job that came along and I started teasing her about giving me all the sh*# work. The sewer line was working but not right so I tried to root it out. It didn't work so I called a plumber to come look at it. He wanted $1500 to replace it. It was a new PVC line so I didn't think it could be too bad so I decided to dig down where the blockage was. After digging a 15' by 2' trench 6 feet deep with a shovel i was able to break into the pipe and get the rotorooter to clean it out. My wife walked up while I was elbow deep in sewage wanting to know how it was going and when I finished explaining how easy it would have been with a backhoe she suggested I go get a backhoe for my tractor to make it easier. I guess the timing just has to be right (and you have to be really passionate). /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
