Snow Another Storm

   / Another Storm #21
It is about 20 minutes before 4pm. It has been snowing steadily since 11 am. We have less than an inch accumulation- the snowfall while pretty, is so very light.
I was wrong, I just looked out the window onto the porch. From the cat's prints, it is about an inch and a 1/2.:D:laughing:

I just got in about 10 minutes ago from plowing- So far about 4-5 inches. It is coming down pretty steadily. The tractor had an inch or 2 of snow or more and the ground was covering quickly what I had just done. Work tomorrow, need to get out. We'll see in the morning what there is. About 27 F here.

I have neverr seen the weather people so confused, our weaher here in south east is showing snow wensday clear thrusday snow friday and mix rain and snow saterday. they said last nigt they were just not sure what to expect. they were saying that there is 3 systems out there and they don't know what any of them are going to do. it's possible we could get some form of falling weather wensday friday thru tuesday.

It's crazy. I've seen just about anything and everything for the coming weekend, rain, snow, freezing rain, even nothing at all. It just depends on which forecast you look at. Some are saying a high of 37 Sunday some are saying in the 50's.

Here's what the guy from WXSouth said yesterday:
"Could a Major or Mega Storm be on the horizon for some region? If the AO (arctic oscillation) holds the key, then yes, it could be. More times than not, when the AO reaches severely negative numbers, a big event occurs somewhere in the United States. The lower Mississippi Valley Christmas Blizzard, the upper Plains Blizzard in January , then the Northeast Blizzard in February. You can go back through time to the 1960's and see that a strong negative AO usually corresponded to a big event "somewhere". That "somewhere" though is always hard to predict, so we have to use the model runs to determine where that could be. Right now, they paint northern Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia, northern Georgia, and upper SC, very broadly speaking, as the primary zone of impact on the next storm. But there's time for shifting to knock some of that region out of the game (for snow) and include adjacent regions in the game. Right now its a very tough call, but this is just a broad alert to indicate that a signifcant to major system looms in the distance. Even though it's very late in the year, it's not unprecendented to get heavy snowfall in any of these regions in late March. Especially considering the extreme negative values the AO is showing lately."

Well we got about 12" total, another 7-8" overnight. Plowing today. Hard to predict with these storms coming from the south. Mostly they blow out to sea before they reach us. This one was coming from more of an angle- SW -W so it lingered and passed over us. A thin snow, small flakes. About 18F right now. Tied for the biggest storms for us this year. -Not like it used to be...!

A bit overblown here, we got six or seven inches. Good thing I hadn't taken the blower off yet (although I thought about it)!

Just saw they are predicting a major snow (could be up to 15") for central IN this coming Sunday, we were in the 80s this time last year. That was completely out of the norm, we are just looking to get temps into the normal range. I think it is time to go Groundhog huniting in PA, early Spring is not going to happen here.

Got over 12 inches but the tractor ran like a charm and got everything cleared off! Got the FEL and the BH on again so we'll see if there is any truth to me causing this weather. Let see, at 12 mph it might take me a few weeks to drive to Florida!

I live on a 1 mile long back road that I share with two other families. It is my responsibility to plow and maintain the road. Last week we were visiting my daughter out in Portland, OR. We flew home Tuesday nite during the storm. When we left Portland the weather station said there was 8" on the ground here and expected another 6" during the nite. We landed in Boston at 7:30 am Wendsday and had a 4 hr drive north. I thought I would have to walk in and plow my way out when we got here. But we were able to drive right in. What a blessing as we were pooped. My son, who lives in the next town, had roughed the road out on tuesday nite during the storm with his truck and a neighbor hit it again on Wedsday morning before he went to work. Thats a mile of road they plowed !! So we could drive in.
All I had to do was clean it up a little. Which I did this morning. We got about a foot out of a 14" to 18" prediction.
