That is a nice looking dozer. Seeing the last pic reminded me of the old Plymouth Neon commercials. I just had too... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mark,

Given the speed with which I've seen this thing move, I'd guess you could be home for Thanksgiving dinner. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'm pretty sure that with the proper trailer that truck of yours would get it home with no problems, though. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The cab area is a little snug for my long legs but I doubt it was built for someone over 6'-8, either. It was making short work of moving some dirt to help with a drainage problem today but after a while I had to climb down to rest my surgically rebuilt knees a while.

It did give me a chance to take a picture of it in action with a friend of mine operating it. Shortly after this was taken we literally blew the exhaust stack off of it. No real damage done. Just rusty exhaust finally giving way. We're going to be back at it tomorrow to not only finish this but also knock down some trees and get rid of some stumps. That ought to be fun! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Scott,

I actually saw a different model in this same line today that had that very system you describe. I never knew there was anything like that around. I'm a lot happier with this one the way it is. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Indeed, I don't remember anyone saying anything good about the "hybrid" engines...

Looks like fun... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Scott now you wouldnt be knocking the good ole UD-9 engine now would you lol. I had a friend of mine that was elderly that when they started out in the late 40's they had a new IHC TD9 with the Bucyrus Erie blade and Bee Gee Hydraulic unit and an old Adams motor grader with the same UD-9 engines. I asked how they held up and he said his Dad would be out mechanicing and you could hear hims sayig d(*(mned you old head cracking leaking sobs. They told me later the Grader had a gas burner put in it and the dozer had the pistons shaved to lower the compression to lessen the head breakage.
Gary that a good looking dozer Dad said he operated one like it when he was my age. Yours has the better hydraulic system that the olders ones. I think the Beegee powerunit the cylinders and all put out 500 PS compared to the 1200 to 2500 yor machine uses. The older ones had about 10 inch pistons and the rams were about 2 inches in diameter. They were very slow bladewise. Dad says the blades tilt isnt really useful because of the time to adjust them plus when you run it to cut a ditch you just turn cros ways and cut a lot spot one and a half times longer than the track then put your track over in that depression and you have your angle. Dad says that the tilt was use to adjust the bottom of the cutting edge to the angle of the blades pivot. when you angle the blade with then let it down on the flat ground the one edge will sit a little higher off the ground if im not mistaken. Tilt wont be hard to get used to I operated and older Massey Ferguson dozer wit ha straight blade and hydraulic tilt and the Tilt was on a sepperate lever I just kept the tracks level instead of messing with the levers. I hope you find lots of use out of the little fella they sure are handy.

RE: "that his trend and it's escalation even has me a bit concerned."

Everyone here understands except me. I am very jealous.

Well, I've learned a few things about this dozer over the weekend. In the hands of a good operator it can do quite a bit in a fairly short period of time. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Let me interject here that I am not that operator. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The bottom line is that I now have a very good chance of drying out the inside of my barn once and for all. Here is a picture of the new contour away from and to the front of the barn.

Here's a pic of where that water will be routed. Obviously this part was still being worked as I took the picture.

This last shot is from directly out front of the corner of the barn showing the contour.
