This one hit close to home. I didn't know the man or his family but it's a pretty small county we live in. It doesn't say if he was wearing his seat belt or not. My guess is he wasn't. If he was this was a real freak accident.

James A. Mitchell of Bowerston left his brother-in-law's home in Sherrodsville on a tractor pulling a corn planter just after noon Easter Sunday. He was heading for his home between New Hagerstown and Perrysville.
He didn't make it home.
Mitchell was traveling on SR 164 about a half mile from the township road where he was going to turn off onto Derry Rd. when the tractor flipped, ejected him from the seat and trapped him under the roll over protection (ROPS) bar. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mitchell, 33 of 9063 Derry Rd., Bowerston, was driving a Ford model 1720 tractor and pulling a four-row corn planter. His brother-in-law, Dan Renicker of Sherrodsville, said Mitchell recently purchased a corn planter, but was having trouble with it. "He called me and told me about everything that was wrong, so I told him I had one he could trade for and I'd cut his up for scrap," Renicker said Sunday at the scene. "He left my house just after noon for the trip home. He was going to use the planter to plant sweet corn."
The accident occurred at 1:17 p.m.
Metro Life Flight was called to the scene and landed their helicopter in a field near the accident scene, but the victim was not transported. Carroll County Coroner Dr. Mandal Haas said Mitchell died of possible asphyxiation due to where the roll bar was positioned against his back when he was trapped.
Emergency personnel from Perry Township and Carroll County volunteer fire departments and EMT Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Mitchell was a 1993 graduate of Conotton Valley High School. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served six years until 1999. He also served in Iraq from November 2003 until February 2005 with the 706th Transportation Company based at Mansfield as part of the Army Reserves.
When he returned from his tour of duty, he returned to his job at The Timken Company.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda (Patterson) Mitchell, and daughters Leanna, 6, and Autumn, 5.
