Bifen IT is darn good stuff. I'm buying another gallon before they find a reason to outlaw it.

I tried Amdro first, wasn't impressed, spot-sprayed with Bifen last week and I mean the ants just disappeared.

whatever type of ants these are, they are really small, and don't go after sweets like most ants: i put some "terra" stuff out, which usually has a circle of ants around each drop within minutes: and i never saw a single ant go near it?? theres a 3/4 inch gap under my board and bat siding, and i know thats where they are making their nest, almost anything will kill em if i can just get it there, but thats where part of the problem is coming in. i may drill some small holes and pump some insecticide in that way?? "if" the bifen doesn't do the job.

well, i found that the ants in the yard sure like sweets: i put out some "terro" not terra as i previously said, which i think is boric acid with sweetener, and they where all over it in minutes: so i will keep it available to them until i don't see any more ants.

I saw something today that was curious...

I picked up a bucket in an outbuilding where I had spilled some 10-10-10 fertilizer and under the bucket where the fertilizer had gotten a little damp were a pile of big black ants in the 10-10-10.

Why would ants want to be in 10-10-10? I figure it would be kind of caustic.

Thanks to those who mentioned AMDRO.
The sandy soil in swampeast Missouri just seems to favor ants. I had problems off and on in my kitchen that often would be solved by putting out some Terro. A year later and I would leave some dirty dishes in the sink for a couple days bachelor, I can do that kind of stuff and they would return. They would build huge nest under anything flat and I even assume my roof shingles. Had the roof replaced over the winter due to hail damage and I notice their patterns seemed to have changed. I probably had several nests under my driveway. Waited on dry weather and put some AMDRO down. Ants seemed to ignore it. I thought I had wasted 13$. Later that week I noticed little to no ant activity across my driveway slab and only a couple ants in the kitchen. I stumbled into a nest yesterday under my deck but recalled I didn't treat under there so I finished the container off and went around the house again.
I had even tried the Terro granules with no success.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Varying nutritional needs can be met by fertilizer's ingredients such as Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Urea, etc. Not much different than a salt lick for animals
