Any 3 point blowers NOT to buy??

/ Any 3 point blowers NOT to buy?? #12
a few years ago, I bought a used allied 50" blower for my bx23. I believe it was an early 90's model, and only had a 3 blade impeller. It didn't blow snow worth a d***. I was able to purchase a new 4 blade impeller and with a little cutting of each blade, I was able to install it. It has made a noticeable difference in the distance that I can throw the snow. If you are looking at used, be sure to get one with a 4 blade impeller, and check the spacing between the impeller blades and housing. The bigger the gap, the less distance you'll be able to throw snow.

I have a 60" Farm King on my BX 2350. It is decent quality. It is bigger than the application charts would recommend for the tractor but I wouldn't want to go narrower.

Have a 63" Meteor on my L3400 and it works well (especially this winter where we are currently under a blizzard warning in the Huntsville area of Ontario). It doesn't throw as far as my previous single stage blower but it works in both dry and wet snow,,, my single stage was useless above -10f. Also had a snyder on my 7510 which worked well and was built like a tank (blew a gallon of paint left in the snow through it and just painted the blower, didn't even break a shear pin)

Thanks for all the info, I was unaware about the the clearance between the housing and impeller, good stuff I'm just going to keep looking, no rush to buy, I just want to be as informed as possible if a good used one shows up.

My little push blower got way better when I installed some stiff rubber wipers on the impeller blades. Most rubber longer than the blade to housing clearance wore off pretty quick leaving a tight fit between the blades & housing. It dealt with a slush a lot better & didn't clog nearly as much.

Not directly relevant to your question. But tight tolerances between the impeller & housing is a much better performing machine.

I purchased a Luck Now for my 42 and 48hp tractor, very simple and heavy unit, and it throws snow, I use my front blade, when the snow starts to work it's way out to the edge of the road, I hook up the blower and get rid of it. I've had it for 20 yrs, never a problem, I did repaint it a few years back.

I've had a 72" Puma for several years. It works great. The key is that I have HST(L3130). This is the only way my tractor would be able to handle a 72" blower when the snow id dense or wet.
