I'm starting to think they're not going to do anything because I've not heard anything back from the rep or from the dealer. When the rep called me on my cell phone I was outside at work so I didn't get his contact information or anything, he just said he would get back to me. I also talked to the dealer where I bought the tractor and they were supposed to get back to me also.

Still haven't heard a thing from my dealer or the rep. I kind of knew right from the beginning nothing would be done but at least have the courtesy to call me and let me know. You live and you learn, I just wouldn't recommend a Massey to anyone else. Thanks everyone for listening and I hope you all have good luck with your tractors.

I just don't understand the ag machine industry. My day job is I own a cnc machine shop - make everything from gun parts to oilfield stuff to consumer electronics components. If someone starts legitimately complaining online about quality or usability of either a machine or tooling a company rep will almost always jump in and try to get the problem fixed because they know how much reputation damage costs in the long run. Screw someone over with bad equipment and not get it fixed will cost you a lot more in sales by them talking about their experience at the coffee shop and online. Take care of them right will make them a customer for life and your best salesman.

Very well said. I'm a reasonable person, I don't expect them to just take it back and give me something else. I'm not bashing them all over the net. I'm just wanting to get a tractor that I have confidence in that when I need it, it's going to be there for me. That is the exact reason I spent all the money I did on a new tractor.

CaptHowdy - Sorry to hear about your tractor issues. I really feel your pain! At times, I'm where you are at with your 4610 with my MF1754. BEYOND FRUSTRATING! I've had 3 Massey tractors. First was bulletproof, second was ok and then this one. You can read my threads, if interested, I won't rehash here.

I had a problem on my MF1643 where the engine would just shudown. Then not restart. Once started, sometimes you couldn't move it (stall above idle) other times you would have to let it sit for a couple hours to get it running normally. Seemed more likely to happen in cold weather than hot. But, did happen in the summer. Really annoying! Tractor also was hard starting. Changed fuel filters, etc...Ended up being a problem with the fuel line coming thru the firewall. Fuel line was too long and would collapse due to the way it was fished thru the firewall if conditions were correct. I replaced the battery with 800CCA battery and that made a big difference, also! I also ran into a similar problem with my MF1754. Fuel line was too long again. Kinked under the brush shield. This took awhile to find. Rerouted line, all is good. I'm not saying this is your problem, maybe connected. But, perhaps worth checking into.

As a side note, according to my dealer, if I could produce enough documentation on issues with my tractor, in addition to dealer's documented issues thru Massey's Knowledge Center, Massey might offer assistance with a trade towards another tractor. I don't know if this is true or what qualifies as documentation. But, I thought I would pass this information along.

What part of the state are you in and which dealer are you dealing with? I think your problems are mostly dealer related as most independent MF dealers in KY are about useless. I am a tech at a large multi location Agco dealer and I have a lot of experience with the 4600's. I think your issues could be resolved fairly easily. Feel free to PM me if you want.

Agco is treating you the agco way,They are good at it. Take your money, sell you a tractor full of problems and then abandon you. If it were me, i trade that heap in for a John Deere, kubota, case ih or something else. I would then sit down and write a letter to the agco ceo explaining you have had it with their product, had it with their customer service and no linger care to do business with a company that conducts business in the manner that agco does. I would then enclosethe bill of sale for a new different brand of tractor. That might get their attention, and if it does, tell them you snooze you lose, to late for mf and agco. That is the only way to get their attention, stop the money flow and patronage of agco.

Did that work for you? Not saying that negatively, but curious...

Well, i was getting gouged on some mf parts last summer and the dealer tried to peddle me a 1700 series tractor. I looked at him like he had two heads and basically said "you cant be serious". I mean i have virtually no use for agco on any level. They bought into usc under the guise of gsi. They cant figure out why the most of the help left and the cant hire any new help. So they are out sourcing alot of the production procedures cause they cant hire any help. Anyway, back to the tractor situation. I'm seating in the heart of deere/case ih country, so mf is a hard sell around here. And had i let them sucker me into a 1700 series tractor, i would have another high dollar basket full of problems with no solution. My understanding is the emission systems on the 1700 series is a mess. I think i made the right decision as well as most of the factory workers at usc feel they made the right decision in leaving.

Never did hear anything from Massey or the dealer. Don't think anyone wants to mess with it. I even contacted Massey again last week and told them no one got back to me. They have lost any future business of mine and I definitely won't recommend them.
