Very interesting. Is that a fairly new rig? Maybe Woods has since come out with the subframe.

I bought my Woods 6500 about three or four years ago. It does have the subframe (which I like to have on there - the smaller tractors need the extra support, IMHO). Anyway, it isn't all that new.

I believe Kubota only recommends the 4672 hoe, not the 4690, for the smaller B series, but those are 3 pt. mount

That is correct. They recommend only the smallest hoe in their line, and it is 3pt. That was the main reason I went with the Woods - the subframe (I think the Kubota was a bit less, too, but it has been a while /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif).

I really like the Woods hoe. Using it today, matter of fact... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes, it is only a couple weeks old. I'm not sure what the Kubota manual suggests for their hoes. My dealer said either the 6500 or the 7500 hoe will fit on the B7500. The only difference in weight between the two is approx. 50 pounds. At first I somewhat sceptical about the 7500 hoe, but now I'm glad I did it and it was only $200 ($5200) more than the 6500. One setback is ground clearance with the subframe. One has to be careful. I measured the cleance on a concrete floor 7.5 inches (kind of dissapointed in that). I will post a picture this weekend.

Hi Chris,

I know that there is and has been a subframe for the 6500. My surprise is that a 7500 can be put on the B7500 tractor. I didn't think that was available or advised when I was shopping 3 years ago.

secretec,

Thanks for the info. I agree, the difference in weight isn't much, the difference in price is hardly a concern, but the increase in performance is fairly pretty noticeable.

Back when I was buying, I included the extra performance of the 7500 backhoe in my decision to upgrade to the larger tractor. If I could have put a 7500 on a B7500 back then, I might have bought that....or maybe a B2410. But then again, I probably still would've convinced myself to go with the B2910. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Next time I'm at my dealers, I'm going to see if what he says about mounting the 7500 on a B7500.

Good Luck with your rig. Oh...I haven't noticed much of a ground clearance issue, although the B2910 stands a bit taller than the B7500...but with a backhoe...you just take out whatever is in the way. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As a B7500 owner without a BH, I'm finding this conversation very interesting. The Kubota web site does in fact limit the BH size of the B7500 to the 4672. The '72 has a digging depth of 73.9" - comparable to the Woods 6500's 78". I think this dimension is more important than the weight when matching a BH to a tractor.

pbenven,

The Woods 6500 has routinely been put on the B7500 and B2410 series, it does have an extra 6" of digging depth, but believe the digging forces it can exert are in line with the Kubota hoe. The Woods 7500 can exert greater forces than the 6500 and Kubota 4672 hoe, and I think that's where caution needs to be taken.

I haven't spoken with my dealer yet, but I believe his concern was possibly voiding the Kubota warranty if a larger hoe was mounted. If that isn't the case, then I think that's important information and really opens up possibilities for owners of the B7500 and B2410.

As I said, I talked myself "up" to the B2910 partly because I desired the extra reach of the larger hoe.

Hi Rick,

Sorry - didn't understand your point. You're right - it is not recommended to put a 7 1/2' hoe on the smaller B series tractors.

Hi Chris,

I had some concern with secretec's 7500 mounted on his B7500. However, that was how his dealer equipped the tractor. I would think that should he ever have any warranty issues, his dealer would have to straighten it out. It's probably going to be a none-issue anyway.

However, if someone was going to put a 7500 backhoe on a B7500 or B2410 "on their own", I would be very worried about voiding any warranty in effect at the time.

In secretec's case, I would think he could always point a finger at the dealer and let them accept responsibility.

It's possible Kubota doesn't recommend their larger hoe, 4690, for the smaller B's because they are 3 pt. mount. Since most use subframe mounts on their Woods, it just might be perfectly fine to use the larger hoe with that type of mount.

If so, those of you with B7500's and B2410's and interested in a backhoe should pay special attention. The extra reach of the larger hoe is well worth the extra couple hundred bucks in additional cost.
